Hi AFF, I've been reading your emails for years and searching your forums for answers. Always find what I am after.

Question though, with all this about Qantas FF points devaluation, does it effect the $/point value in the Qantas FF Store? I am not in a position to use up my points with flights at the moment. I only have 150000 at the moment, but we normally cash out each year around November to buy gift cards to fund christmas. LOL

All my searching I can only find reward flights being devalued.

When looking at the QFF store, i've always used a rule of thumb that 100pts = $1, so if am item is listed as 30,000pts to buy, think, would I pay $300 for it?
I find usually the value of item sin the QFF store, unless on sale, can be found for far cheaper on other retailers. And this is before you vonvert what you've earned those QFF points at also!

sO I don't notice any devaluation, but it had a pretty bad base to begin with!

Yeah we almost never buy anything directly unless on sale from there. If I wanted a TV for example, far better to buy a JBHifi gift card than you are a TV from Qantas.

I don't think there is any devaluation on the store during the QFF "enhancement" program this month. If you don't fly, then I think the next best option is on car rental and hotel, followed by last, the store.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Points weren't devalued as such; the price of some flight redemptions was increased.
Points have less value than before because you need more of them to redeem (some of) the goods and services you want. That's the definition of points devaluation.

Semantics. There wasn't an across-the-board devaluation. The price of some flight redemptions went up (and the price of others came down).

but as opusman notes - some reward prices went DOWN, so if you were after a Y reward seat to LAX you'd consider the value of points to have gone up.

Just because you (and 99% of the rest of AFF members) only care about premium cabin rewards does not mean that the rnotion holds true for ALL QFF members.

Where exactly did I say that the change was a devaluation? What makes you think I only care about premium cabin rewards? Why do you make it sounds like my comment applies to "some went up and some went down" when the comment was written on a quote where only "some went up" was written? I find it interesting that you comment on things I do not write, change the context of what I wrote, only to lecture me . Do you do that with everyone? 🤔

To go back to the thread, I agree the change is positive for some, and negative for others and as such some might consider the QFF change the opposite of a devaluation (I don't know the term). I am actually one of those and this is why: I accumulate much more points than I can redeem (so far I could only use them on upgrades) and I hope that with the 1millions extra award seats being released, I will be able to finally get one J for a leisure trip. I consider my points more valuable.
