Long-haul J experiences on MH

Can confirm that they have fixed the seat on the a380. My wife flew KUL - LHR a couple or days ago and said the seat was perfectly flat.

I heard that its not the seat that was the problem - the seat was always flat but rather the footrest would not rise all the way up to be in line with the seat. Has the footrest now been modified so that it is raised and in line with the seat ?

Just to confirm... The J seats on the MH A380s are fully flat. The kink that used to be in the legrest bit has been fixed on all six of the planes. I'm on these birds (in J) about twice a year, the most recent being in January.

Great to hear, my parents are flying them CDG-KUL next month.

Excellent service BNE-KUL-LHR CDG-KUL-BNE. Hard product good on the A380s, pretty good on the 777 and average on the A330. KUL airport experience was easy. Got the feeling staff were grateful for passengers' support in this difficult time. Would use them again to Europe, as the price to comfort / service ratio is compelling.

Agree, the A330 is pretty ordinary. Mind you, on the B777, you have all that legroom and yet still have to sleep on an incline! :(

Isn't the 777 2-3-2 J though? I've flown both and prefer the A330 as it had the "newer" interior. I don't think MH J is equivalent to other carriers PE either.

Interesting thing, not sure if anyone else has had his happen, but my wife mentioned today she had points and SC posted for her MH reward flights recently

I've heard that it sometimes happens. Great if it does but don't go looking for it or they will get wise to it and it never happens again in future.

Oh, wasn't looking for it. She requalified WP in her 4th month this year and have been using Lifemiles and USDM redemptions ever since. Just thought it was funny that's all.

Doing KUL-MEL-KUL in MH J soon, one on an A330 and one on a 777 - is there much difference?

About the same
A330 newer seats, so firmer, but seems less pitch, 2 2 2 config
777 older seats, so softer, 2 3 2 config
Personally prefer 777

Courtesy of USDM I'm on a 747 SYD-BKK in F. (I haven't flown a 747 since the upper deck on QF to LAX). Any experiences on this MH flt?

(Sorry, just noticed the 'J' in the title).

MH F on the 747 is ok. Not much privacy but the seat is comfortable. Service and food is above average but nothing like CX, EK or QF. It's good value for a redemption but would never pay for it.

Incidentally, why didn't you get the TG F from SYD - BKK?

I DID, I just forgot I am actually on TG not MH.

Ah, that's better. I didn't think that MH ran the 747 to Sydney anymore. The TG F is much better anyway. Plus the F lounge in BKK is one of best lounges in the world IMO. Enjoy!

I thought the TG F was the same as the F that was on the MH 747-400s. Have they refurbished them?

They're not angled flat. They are flat. There used to be a kink in the footrest part but that's been fixed so it's almost level now. I don't notice the kink anymore.
Thanks for that tip, it was putting me off flying with MH again. Good to know

Yes, 5 or 6 of the 747's have an updated F seat. It's quite a bit better than the older one, which is still decent. Having said that, I've never seen one of the refurbished F cabins out of Sydney before. I feel TG is superior to MH in every way, especially food and service. And the F lounge in BKK is well worth a visit.
