Little things I like

Have to hand it to Ticketek, who've once again avoided an entry in the WCMO thread courtesy of a great customer service recovery.

Attempted to buy a concert ticket late last night through the Ticketek app. At the payment screen, I attempted multiple times with Apple Pay, direct Credit Card and PayPal, either receiving a "payment failure" error, or being told my session had timed out. At no point did I get an in-app confirmation of successful purchase. After killing the app and reloading it, I had a quick look at the "My Account" section and discovered to my dismay that not only had a ticket been purchased, but this had in fact happened more than once.

Filled out their online form to advise the issue and request cancellation/refund of the superfluous tix. Within 30 minutes of submitting the form, I'd received email confirmation from Ticketek Customer Support advising that the excess tix had been cancelled and the funds would be returned to my CC within 5 working days.

I'm only about 150m from the bus stop. Checked the app and thought I had plenty of time to get there. Walk out onto the road and the bus is right there. I waved and did a damn motion and the lovely bus driver stopped and let me on. Totally illegal but lovely.

I like how, at passport control at the border yesterday, a middle aged Caucasian asked ‘oh, you need a passport?’ And then proceeded to rummage through her things to find it.

As Judge Judy would say when one of the parties says ‘I don’t have that document’

‘what did you think you were doing here today??’

Must be nice to be able to go through life like that… completely oblivious 🤣🤣

A couple of small things this past day or two.

We were due to train it from Brisbane to Cairns on Monday but the cyclone meant that Queensland Rail could not guarantee we would get there by train (or even by bus) so we rang to get a refund. It was super easy (after a 5 min hold) with a very pleasant operator cancelling our tickets no questions asked or hard sell to convert to a credit for future journeys. Lie flat seats cancelled and money back on our credit card immediately. (Well, it will be when our bank gets around to crediting our funds back onto the credit card.)

This is so small that most people will not even notice but, at BNE domestic departures off the motorway, there are really clear makings on the gantry and painted on the roadway to indicate which lane to take. So many people on holiday only ever return a rental once or twice to the same location so having the lane so well marked made it easy.

LTIL. My first JB Hi Fi purchase with a big gift card bonus. I am not one to stock up on gift cards, but the need to replace a broken MacBook (insured too) coincided with a WW 20x TCN Gift card offer, so that was 18000 QF points. Now I just need to find a way to spend my last $1 on one of those gift cards.
