As an alternative to WCMO.

Little thing I like today is sitting in the VA Lounge. Little kid on his phone. Mum says to make sure he logs into the lounge wifi to avoid using mobile data.

Little kid patiently explains ( as if to someone slow) why they shouldn't use public wi-fi, VPN blah blah, reason 2, reason 3..... Mum looks around bemused and embarassed. I gave her a supportive and sympathetic smile.

Yes, kid was a bit know-all-y, but it was cute.

What an excellent idea. I actually had thought about doing this because of the amount of negativity on the WCMO thread. Nothing to write home about today but there have been occasions where a bit of serendipity has occurred.

Great idea!!

I have finally mastered the art of making scones! this is what partially living in the country has done for me.

And dropped off several to our elderly neighbour, with a small pot of jam and cream, this afternoon who is battling melanoma and clearly had another war with the surgeon on his face recently. But he is as positive as anyone can be.

Are they the lemonade cream flour version?

I just love visiting supermarkets and interacting with the beautiful young females and males who are working part time earning a few dollars as they continue their studies at school, college or uni or wherever.

I love asking them what they are studying - what year - where they think they will go once course completed etc. invariable you have an inciteful enjoyable conversation and I always walk out thinking yep that’s the next generation of Australian adults - we as a Country are in a pretty good place 👍

Self checkout? Yeah not in this lifetime

Thats a really good thing.
I always remember my first job at Coles as a Thurs and Fri night checkout chick aged 15. I bought my first pair of Staggers jeans and really felt proud!!

I just love the era we live in - our catch cry at work is ‘What a wonderful era in which we live’ - I’ll trot out a few out over a few posts - let me start with ‘Internet Navigation Systems’.

OMG has this ever changed our lives so much for the better. 68 hrs ago I was born into the transport and livestock/meat industry - a fleet of busses, livestock transport and farm vehicles. To send any of those vehicles out to a destination unknown jockeyed by a driver who had no idea how to get to where they were going or how to get home - many times via a different route.

Today you plug in your address and a sweet voiced Angel from the heavens guides you there turn by turn. I would so truly love to be able to show my old man who died 41yrs ago, and who built the business, the modern day navigation system in action - but alas it can never be.

Amen - Tony Bennett who sang that sentiment so beautifully

LTIL - the Internet and WeChat in particular when dealing with our Chinese partners - when I brought the first Electric Bicycles to Australia in 1999 we communicated solely by landline and fax - OMG was business difficult then - today we have non stop real time streaming with our suppliers via WeChat which is the best business tool imaginable - problems now solvable in an instant prior to them arising 👍

‘What a WONDERFUL World’

LTIL - Walking around our local Parkdale beach path Parker’s Rd to cliffs at Beaumaris and return and saying ‘Good morning’ or ‘Good afternoon’ whichever is fitting to every one I see and checking their reactions’

Whole gamut of reaction range from totally friendly replies to mild indifference to begrudging reply to basic grunt - I do love our walks 👍
