Unless you were really willing to rush things, there are some nice places down at Marina Del Ray.

However with 3 hours spare I personally wouldnt really be risking things as some terminals have horendous line ups for TSA clearance (depends what day of the week, weekdays and Sunday evenings can be shokers at LAX)

Marina Del Ray and Venice are but a 10 mins drive away from LAX and there's some really nice stuff there. You ought to be able to find something down Abbott Kinney.

Slightly further afield in Santa Monica - I highly recommend The Counter for fab burgers. Blows In-N-Out right out of the water any time of the day.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like The Encounter is closed on a monday night as thats where we wanted to go originally but one of the guys traveling with us is really keen to have a good old american burger so looks like that might be the go.

*puts on my best Summer Roberts impersonation* PF Changs?.... eww!

YMMV... I s'pose.
Hey, I did say "reasonable" ... interpret that as you like!

But it is handy to LAX.
