Hi, does anyone know if baggage transfer will work from Air NZ to AA/QF - eg: Sydney to AKL [Air new zealand] and then totally separate reservation on AA (partially QF codeshare) to DFW (via LAX). IE - will air new zealand check in in SYD check bags through to DFW?

RE the baggage checking through... Be wary that some european airlines wont through check bags unless it is all on one PNR (ie BMI)

I think LH are ok, but just a heads up

Success. Both LH and QF have confirmed they have Baggage Interlining agreements and WILL be able to tag my bags through to the final destination.

Cheers for all your help guys.

PS - Anyone want to join my campaign 'Qantas should update its on-hold music - cough Groove is sooooo 1980s' ? :p

So long as you can show both tickets at check-in time you should have no problems with the bags being tagged to your final destination of DFW. note you will still need to collect the bags at LAX to escort them through customs and the have them re-screened for the LAX-DFW flight.
