My Wife and I have been lucky enough to get a 2 first class rewards flight through Qantas with Emirates coming home from Europe.
AMS to DXB (A380) then onward DXB to HKT (B777) landing at 8pm. So we still need to get home from coughet.
Jetstar fly out at 10.25pm
I was looking to book through Webjet as they have Business cheaper than Jetstar direct.

My main question is can I get these linked so bags go through at coughet
or Will I have to collect bags, clear Customs and rebook and is 2hrs 20 enough?

Thanks

I did a sample booking and Webjet add a massive AUD55 in booking fees, which brings their jetstar fare far higher than booking direct on jetstar.

I don’t believe EK will through check to JQ on separate tickets.

Check in will close for JQ around an hour before, giving you 1hr20mins to clear immigration and collect bags. Which I think is enough time.

However.. should your inbound be late, not really enough time to recover.

Why not spend a day or two in HKT by the beach and catch the next JQ flight?

Don’t suppose there are award seats on the JQ flight? If there is, call to add that to the booking.

HKT to SYD
2 PAX Business
Jetstar $4692
Webjet $3520

No A/L leave left for layover, arriving Tue to work Wed
That seems suspicious! Webjet takes fares directly off the airline’s website and simply resells them, with a markup, as far as I understand. I don’t believe they ‘discount’? I don’t see them having that level of commission to discount!

What dates are you looking at, and is it the same fare? (regular vs max?)

Looking at flightaware, EK396 has arrived late on 10 out of the last 14 days… on 4 of those days it’s been late by 30 mins or more. The other days around 20 mins.

I think it’s a bit risky to aim for the 2225 with a non refundable fare.

This is always the case with separate bookings. Then they end up stuck in somewhere they've not prepared to stay in, and needing to buy last minute fares at exorbitant rates.

The other common issue with Separate fares is not realising they need eligible entry rights into the country they're connecting through

And I appreciate all the advise as these are the things that I'm trying to avoid.

The main problem is that there isn’t even an exorbitant last minute fare! The earliest departures from HKT don’t connect in either BKK or SIN for the same-day flights from those places to SYD.

And there’s nothing leaving after around 2200 to get to either or those ports either.

So it’s a bit of a case of being stuck for 24 hours.

Yeah and no direct flights to SYD the next day either.

But better safe than sorry. I think stay a night in coughet and then get the QF ticketed flight back at 14.45 via Bangkok getting back Wednesday 7.35 am in time to work that afternoon.

There is a non-stop JQ flight to MEL the next day. Saves the transit in BKK and a nice easy one in MEL?
