Would it be possible to consider some stricter limits on the use of the Text Colour and Font Size options?
These features are great when they're being used appropriately, but over the last week or so I've started to see how much of a pain these features are when they aren't being used appropriately.
Even limiting it to just the smaller font options and preventing colours like bright red from being used would improve the situation.

I think it falls under self-expression. It's a slippery slope when we start imposing restrictions on how you can construct a post. My advice would be to ignore the member as has already been suggested. You could do this with the Xenforo function, never seeing their posts again, or manually, so when you see their post you just skip past it.

An addendum to this is that staff frequently uses rich text to make a point in a thread or construct guides, sticky posts and similar. We might only be able to turn it off for all, thereby hampering ourselves.

The issue of large fonts comes about when people are pasting quotes from external sources.

Can you give examples?

To a certain degree we could look into imposing limits, as is already the case for those members who can add a signature, but being able to express yourself through font, size and colour can help tell a story, especially in the TR section. I'm not sure where there could be issues unless you had a disability perhaps, but I would presume there are assistive devices/extensions for browsers that would help users that fall under that category?

Edit: I feel you're talking about one member who likes to add a little red text here and there. It could be worse! ;)

I think you've spotted the example I'm talking about. 🤣
It's not just the variable fonts sizes and colours that are irritating me, so I've resorted to hitting the Ignore button, for the first time ever.
Just thought I'd bring it up as I've seen a few other members comment about the visual appeal (or lack thereof) of those particular posts.

An interesting point you raise, quite often an article will make the title bigger than the body, which can be helpful at times. However, on another note we are now policing the posting of full articles hidden behind paywalls more forcefully. There is nothing wrong with carefully choosing a few paragraphs that highlight your thread, but beyond that, we don't want to see whole articles posted.

While AFF doesn't have a paywall, we do have advertising that helps pay the bills. This is not dissimilar to a site behind a paywall charging subscriptions to read the content, they have to pay their writers somehow. So we would prefer not to see whole articles posted verbatim, just as we would hope this doesn't happen to our articles elsewhere.

The reason I bring this up though, is because when posting a whole article, nearly all the text in the post could be stylised but if members refrain from doing so, it wont be so glaring.

Thanks for considering it.
I've used Xenforo's "Ignore" function (for the first time ever) to sort it out, as my frustration was also about more than just the visual irritation.
I do appreciate you getting back to me about the suggestion, I know the moderation team team at AFF must be working hard in these trying times as well.
