Liklihood of AA availability with QF FF points

@serfty Thanks for sharing the flight numbers. That itinerary could not be more perfect for what I need. tempted to just lock it in even at today's price.

The Qantas award calendar doesn't display all AA flights, with particular lack of availability on itineraries that may involve connections. (Finding single flights has got better recently, in the middle of the year it was showing almost nothing.)

Search for flights direct on AA. No membership is required, just ticket the 'redeem miles' box on the main booking page. If you find sAAver award space, you can call QF to book.

That being said, AA award space is getting hard to find. And it seems fairly rare for new inventory to be opened up. But YMMV.

(No flights MIA-LAS on 11 March BTW)

I am looking for AA flights from JFK to DTW in mid November. On the QF award calendar only Westjet flights come up as options however if I search for flights directly on AA I am given the option of flying to YYZ via DCA or PHL. If I call QF, will they be able to book me on those flights? If so will they charge me a service fee?

You can ask for the service fee to be waived (as you can't book on line). Yes, QF should have access to those seats provided they are sAAver level. You will be charged for the total sum of mileage sector by sector, rather than the simple non-stop distance. (You can also try booking them as a mutli-city yourself via the QF on-line tool.)

I used the call centre for several flights in the USA earlier this year. Nothing showing on QFF but several options on AA. Qantas phone agents will initially try to search origin-destination (and come up with nothing). So you have to ask if you can feed them the connecting flights. They were able to find them every time.

Allowing the call centre agents to search by themselves first takes time, but is kinda helpful as they can see it's not bookable on line, so they may be more inclined to waive the fee for you.
