Well yesterday I reached the 5,000 LT Status mark moving within sight of the 'magic' 7,000 mark to get.... 25% earning bonus. I suppose LT Gold is the real aim with the QC included in the deal

Anyway, I've been a member since Jan 2003 so in 4 years and 4 months (averge 96 SCs a month) I've got 71% of the way there. I think that I might get to the 7,000 mark around January 2009 (6 years exactly). Now I'm sure for some this is a long time, but with only Y DOM travel I think that is fairly quick.

It got me to thinking how long it took others to get to the LT Silver & Gold marks. I'm sure that a few people on this forum have used xONEx to quicken the pace (one day I hope too as well:D ). So who managed to get to these marks in the short timeframes?

BTW Do you get a letter of something when you hit these marks, since I should still be WP?

You do; that is all you get , a 1 sheet letter

After all that revenue seems like they go to a lot of effort :)

However, the "Letter" is on high density/quality paper stock. ;)

My work related travel is mainly domestic and/or trans-tasman. However, I have spread my wings somewhat since I came across AFF.

A bit of history ...

"Tier Credits" were introduced for flights from Sept 1 1998. Life Tier Credit earning was converted on a one for one basis to "Status Credits" as part of the 2001 changes (IIRC).

Of course, the over 200 flights I took from Nov 1994 until 1st September 1998 have not counted for any status credit earning, life time or otherwise.

In the 75 months since September 1st 1998 until I came across AFF(/FT) in early November 2004, I had earned approx. 3,800 Tier/Status Credits.

That's a rate of ~50 per month.

I am currently on 8,900, so in the 30 months since I came across AFF I have earned another 5100 SC. A 2,360 SC's DONE4 has a lot to do with this.

That's a rate of ~170 per month.

My overall rate is one of ~85 per month.

96 SCs a month in domestic economy is pretty good, especially if of the discount variety (ie all domestic in NZ fares, red e-deals and sales in Australia).

Thats close to my domestic in NZ earning rate the past 6 months (all 10 SCs at a time except for a couple of 15s), but I have also quite a bit of international & Australia SCs.

Yeah right.

I reached LT Gold about 18 months ago. So based on Serfty's recollection of Sept 1998 being the start of tier credits, that would suggest it took me about 7.5 years to earn the 14,000 SCs necessary.

Well - I am currently at 10998 tier credits and have been a QFF member since May99 - thats an average of 130 teir credits per month.

A big chunk of that has come in the past 12 months - I have accrued 3460 teir credits in that time. A lot of the recent activity is due to a role change to be part of a WorldWide team rather than just having a A/NZ territory prior to that.

I don't remember exactly when I got lifetime Silver, but I guess it was around January last year which would have seen me take 5 years and 7 months (ish) to get to Silver on mainly Y class domestic and NZ flights. That's an average of 104 Tier Credits per month. To give you an idea of how much domestic and NZ flights (all Y) I was doing in my old role - for the year May2005-May2006, I easily got partner Gold status with only one international flight (J class) across the pacific and back (MEL-LAX-DFW-RDU-DFW-LAX-MEL).

(FYI. My company has a policy of all economy travel except if a leg exceeds eight hours, so most international travel from MEL is J class except to NZ, SIN and BKK)

Regards,

Dot

I am currently on 2,890 SCs. Yes I know it is not even close. Have been a QFF member since May 2003 and averaging 60 SCs/month.

If current trend continues then I expect to reach Lifetime Silver in December 2012 and Lifetime Gold in September 2022!

I wander if QF will still have a Lifetime status level then or if QF will still be around. ;)

I currently have 13134 SC's. I reached LTS in Jan 06.

Expect to achieve LTG in next 6 to 8 months, but may be earlier, my travel all depends on our HQ's & customer's demands.

My October 2001 Statement (just after Ansetts demise) shows Lifetime Status Credits of 24. Thus an average earn of 165 SC's per month.

I will hit LTG next week thanks to an upcoming trip, having joined in mid-1998. Rather looking forward to my letter - clearly if it comes on such high-quality paper I will have to upgrade my choice of frame.....

By then LTS might be 20,000 SCs and LTG 50,000

Congrats GDSman :D

1 1/2 to 2 years from LTS to LTG is good going.

I'm still a long way short, but making good progress given less than 3 years ago my lifetime total was zero and now I'm LTS.

I'm considering if next year I'll move some *A travel to OW.

When I started in my current position 4 years ago I had around 900 lifetime SC. I am now sitting at 5,400, so around 4,300 SC in 4 years, or approximately 90 SC per month on average.

Will keep crediting to QFF until I reach LTS and then consider the switch to AA - unless there is a change in travel policy and I get to start flying J.....

Still a long way off, but I joined QFF in Feb 2006 and (after I get home today) will be on 1915 SC's, giving me an average of approx 127.6 SC's month. :)

Mind you - that earn rate isn't terribly consistent. Months have ranged from 720 SC's to 0 SC's.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Sounds like many of us. I have had over 3500 in one year and zero the next year. As for months, I think 1500 would be about my most and of course zero in my more common monthly earning.

in my last sc year i did 3595. i have been a member since 2002 and i'm currently at 11655 ... an average of around 190 per month. o/s travel has slowed right down now, thank christ ... still, i'll get there by this time next year easy.

Well, I finally reached Lifetime Silver and got my "underwhelming" letter from Norris Carter, GM Loyalty Program.

What I found intriguing was the following quote:

This doesn't affect your current Platinum membership status, it simply comes into effect should your membership status change from Platinum in the future...We will send you a kit and card only if and when your platinum status changes

If my status changes to Gold (likely in the future  ), then why would they want to send it to me then. Doesn't Gold benefits still outstrip Lifetime Silver (whose benefits to me simply seem to be 25% bonus mileage). I suppose I wouldn't get a free pass per annum to QP as I'm already a Lifetime QP member.

I presume they don't want to send out a kit now and when I finally get to use the status, can't find my kit and they have to send me another one. Probably smart from their viewpoint.

You should still be entitled to the benefits of Silver status, which currently includes one complementary Qantas Club pass per annum. Silver QC members still receive the pass, so why not a Lifetime Silver/Lifetime QC member. You can give it to a friend/relative to use.

I am now awaiting my shiny new Gold card to be delivered. They don't seem to send it out prior to status review date.

Thanks NM. That all makes sense.

Oct 1 came around and I was wondering how you were taking the drop in status to Lifetime Gold. I suppose now it's time for you to achieve Lifetime Gold on AA....

How was the final Flounge visit??
