John Donovan, something doesn't compute with your assertion.
Lifetime Silver is 7,000 status credits since the introduction of this regime..mid 98 IIRC. How did you "in three months" pass from this stage to Lifetime Gold (14,000 SC's)...wow, you've been flying First Class longhaul almost every week during that 3 month period.
There is no (to my knowledge) acknowledgement from QF on these milestones. All they mean is that regardless of your future travel, you will always hold that level (ie. you could fall back to Bronze after a poor year of travel under normal circumstances, however if you are Lifetime Silver or Lifetime Gold, you will
always hold onto that level as your base level). Therefore, you will always get 25% or 50% bonuses and other benefits of that level you have achieved...always (well, for as long as QFF is operative, anyway  )
With Partner Gold, it means exactly that - your partner is automatically advanced to Gold for a year, irrespective of their previous level of travel (they could be a nobody, as my fiance [now wife] was). They then have automatic QP entry, 50% bonus, etc.
They would send her a new Gold membership kit, nothing changes to your membership, you are still Platinum...what else do you want????
