When you say legal - do you mean 8 hours transit? MPM? or something else?

I will be exceeding 8 hours - but hoping that should be ok as some have posted transits as long as 18 hours.

The routing I am looking at is likely JFK-TPE-BKK-PER

Have you resolved this issue yet?

Via the screenshot method the 8hrs doesn't seem to apply. MPM has never been discussed as much of an issue. 'Legal' is probably more in terms of no significant back-tracking. Ultimately LM can determine the routing it is willing to give.

When submitting a screenshot request I suggest you also attach a colour copy of passenger passport, it could save you some processing time.
I lodged a request a couple of days ago and was asked to submit colour passport scans for all passengers.

Not yet (haven't tried) - will be sure to let you know if I do.

Anyone had experience with the screen shot method where you ask for a particular routing and they auto allocate a different one? Same start and end though

What are your options?

I assume you can choose not to pay the fees, but one of the legs I do want and I worry it will have left the award inventory

your options are to either ask them again if they will give you your preferred routing, or to accept the alternative they offer.

it's not uncommon for LM to offer an alternative... variety of reasons including potential phantom availability, or they may be following some other rule. LM ultimately has the right to choose the option it wants to give you.

Thanks - just missed the call to pay for the flights - any idea of the number to call back?

Is it the normal help desk?

I tried to jen missed number on my phone but it rang lt

I sent through a request late Monday night with screenshots MNL-BKK-ICN TG J for April 2017 (22.5K) and included a passport scanned.(for some reason these flights would not progress to the payment page on the website after March 2017) They rang me 10.54 am Tuesday saying they had sent an email with the tickets and were following up to take my payment. Call took about 15 minutes. The Agent initially calculated the payment incorrectly and was going to undercharge me !! I told him the correct payment as I wasn't going to chance that any errors would cause drama down the track.

How reliable is SQ at releasing tickets 14 days out? I'm considering taking the risk and buying now in order to get a last minute booking via screenshots. Route I would need is CNX-BKK-SIN-PER

Is the SIN-PER being released 14 days out pretty reliable? I'm looking at the 15th of January if that means anything

award availability is never guaranteed, and at busy times singapore's own members may already have snapped up any seats. Even if SQ releases some seats to partners, if your booking requires the screenshot method it effectively puts LM members at a disadvantage compared to other programmes that can book instantly.

sin-per used to be freely available without being restricted to 14 days... so if it's not showing it's likely gone anyway. you can always check with kris flyer... if their awards are on waitlist it's unlikely there'll be more for LM members.

On Krisflyer the saver is waitlist the full points price available, as for SIN-PER it tends to show a lot available in the next couple of weeks and then not much after that (there are some 14+ days out, but not many)

I'll likely buy the points anyway, fingers crossed i guess?

if kris flyer is showing waitlist it's a safe assumption that kris flyer members (in waitlist) will get first crack at the seats if they decide to release any. I personally wouldn't be buying points in the hope of securing SQ. However, you could fly Thai airways, they might have availability you can confirm now? and full flat beds.

Unfortunately nothing with Thai either

Looking at the United booking engine it looks like award availability around that date is pretty much non existent. Some economy awards, but premium is pretty much sold out for the month of Jan - which includes CNY at the end.

can i send the screenshot request before buying the points?

All you can do is try. It might give them more of an incentive to try to make it work. Buying points has always credited instantly for me.

Also remember that 17,000 points bought now will let you buy a 40,000 points booking later for not too much difference, so you can minimize the risk that way too.
