Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I have seen anecdotes of some holding Lifetime WP and have no doubt that such exists.

It would indeed be a rare beast - and rather unpublicised. I'm thinking that if Jobu doesn't qualify then indeed it's an extremely rare critter.

In the next few months I'll be crossing 30K SC/TC lifetime and have no thoughts at all of ever being granted such.

I think it is probably up there with "If you need to ask how much, you can't afford it".

Sadly, I can confirm that crossing the 30K barrier does not cut it! Nor does the next milestone. :(
But we can live in hope. :)

It would be interesting to see how tight the the T&Cs are about the term lifetime. Can QF pull the entire concept of lifetime status at their will

LOL yes well I basically read the * as hey you have this now, but we can change the T&C at anytime.

I'd like to think that QF is a fairly decent (I know "Simpler & Fairer" aside) organisation and they'd grandfather such folks.. like when they pulled QC Life memberships they didn't say "Well all you lot who have bought QC Life get 5 years and that's it" or something). But, this is business, so who knows.

I thought I'd post the actual letter for interest sake and also for reference for those in the (near) future, wondering like me if there was anything to get excited about :D

That would be big negative for me. I have LTQP courtesy of my Life time Flight Deck membership.
So LTG while a better deal in many ways, is not quite as critical for me as I will soon be LTS as well.

Noting the following on the QFF website:

'You must fly a minimum of four eligible flight segments on Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar and earn the required Status Credits to keep/reach your tier during your membership year.'

For the first time in many years I have not undertaken 4 eligible flight segments etc. I presume there is no actual impact if you have LTG? The bit that actually triggered my interest in this question is bolded in the quote above. Or should I do another couple of Qantas flights before my 'year' expires in May?

No need ... there's a member here who some years ago, having achieved QF LTG, credites almost all of their flights to AAdvantage, certainly not getting 4 QFF ~'s.

They are still QF SG ....

Thanks for clarifying. I never stop getting amazed by the combined knowledge / experience immediately at hand on AFF.

I guess the meaning of "lifetime" is yet to be enhanced.
Or they can enhance the whole program. Those who already have it can keep it, but nobody can earn it anymore. This will then be followed by a mass exodus of the top-value frequent flyer members as there are no carrots left in the program.

don't even suggest it

Other airlines have enhanced theirs years ago, although this lifetime thing is becoming a trend again, e.g. BA bringing in a lifetime gold (OWE equivalent). I would think it's a good thing for airlines to have it. People may spend more knowing that it counts towards a lifetime status, but the costs of maintaining the program should be quite low - those who keep flying will qualify in their own right anyway, and those who stop flying won't be using the benefits either.
