A gentle warning, if staying at lhr hilton, you may want to ask on booking in if your floor area is having some work done on it.

I stayed on 6/9 and sounded like grinding noise somewhere close to my rm. but the time I was there was later in afternoon and ck out mid morning so the noise wasn't of concern. But if I came in on early flt. and wanted to get some sleep I would have found it annoying. Otherwise, I found this hotel on previous stay and current stay fine. Food in ex. lounge is more than adequate.

Time through immigration took just moments as I was on first bus off plane to terminal. Collecting my bags was abt. 30 mins' but as the plane was chockas, think this wasn't too bad. I was in hotel within just over a hour of landing.
cheers

Putting 2 and 2 together, I deduce you were likely on QF29 arrival (well just a guess).

I have stayed may times at the LHR Hilton, but not for a few years now. It certainly would be a painful experience if needing to sleep during the work hours  .

I'm sure I'm not the only one who travels with the following 3 items:

1. A pair of ear plugs that fit well and don't fall out while sleeping
2. A miniature / hip flask of scotch (failing that raid the minibar)
3. An alarm (now the mobile phone) that will wake me, despite the effects of 1. and 2. above.

OK, if there is building work of such magnitude and proximity that it vibrates the whole room and bed, you won't sleep, but that's a definite cause for complaint and a demand to be moved.

but its got to be less than 100ml if we are to take on the hand-luggage-only challenge

i wasn't whinging abt. hilton, just to advise in case someone coming over, to check out no works near their room. i always go hilton.

sunny day in midland england today. cheers
