Hi guys,
Next year in April I will be flying LGA-IST with a combination of AA J LGA-YYZ, followed by BA98 F YYZ-LHR and then finally BA676 J LHR-IST. All of this is booked on the one PNR, as an award ticket with AA for two pax my wife and myself.
My YYZ-LHR flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:25am and my LHR-IST is scheduled to depart at 10:40am. Although both these flights are landing/departing out of T5 where the MCT is 60mins, and although my luggage will likely be checked through from when I check-in at LGA (and probably boarding passes issued all the way to IST), I still feel that the 75mins is pretty tight. I've heard pretty horrible things about T5, like this thread
BA connecting flights at Heathrow T5: never again - FlyerTalk Forums
From those who have had an international connection before at T5, are my concerns warranted ? Does the FastTrack make any difference ?
My main question was, if I misconnect, will BA painlessly put me on their next LHR-IST service later that afternoon ? Or should I be ready for a battle and well versed in EU aviation laws lol ?
Will they tell me to call AA because its them who issued the ticket ? And then will AA ask me to call BA back as its their misconnect and they need to open up more award space etc ? Or will we be chilling in the CCR whilst the staff take care of it all ?
Are the staff at YYZ likely to be proactive in reaccommodating F pax who will misconnect if they see that BA98 is delayed ?
Just wondering what I should be expecting and how best to respond in such situations. All comments and advice are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks.
