Well actually I got this from an expert doctor being interviewed on Radio National. That service my taxes pay for that provides me with reliable information. They did mention the THC link, but made it clear that the vapour, the extra fluids introduced to the lung is the issue.

No wonder scientists are ignored by society if people so easily dismiss them as tabloid news.

Yep, outrageous that I mostly avoid the tabloids...

Vic, I replied to this in the Vaping thread in the Playground...

Unfortunately your ABC has given you made up information. The experts at the CDC have not worked out what causes the lung injury when using e-gigs.
I have posted the link twice and now in the specific vaping threads where this post belongs.

I will post the latest in the vaping thread - but , alas, I fear no-one will want to hear the truth. It was so much more fun to think that vaping was evil....

Qantas should serve Kangaroo meat as part of their on board meal offering. ;)

Yes, although the Fred Perry* Duck Billed Platypus° Cutlet with creamed cavolo nero^, buttered risoni^ and mustard fruits goes some way to recompense for the lack of kangaroo. :p

As an aside does QF still serve the dreadful supper menu out of Hong Kong (into Australia) and is there now wifi on board the A330's so that the menu can be googled extensively to find out what is actually being served? (Yes I have that rarest of beasts, [for me these days] a QF flight from Asia to Australia coming up soon.)

* For new readers the author of this post is well aware that Fred Perry was the last Englishman to win the male singles title at Wimbledon¯ , and for established readers you'll just have to put up with the author's refusal to lower himself to the marketing claptrap QF spouts about celebrity chefs....and don't get him going on the tableware and cutlery!
° The author of this post acknowledges it is likely that QF does not serve duck billed platypus as part of an inflight meal and is using duck billed patypus for comic effect....probably.
^ The author also had to google these.
¯ Andy Murray is Scottish.

:p

Truth? On here? This is the ultimate echo chamber no one wants to hear anything that would counter their firmly-held world view :)

Well not a thought but something outrageous has happened on our last trip.Priority baggage has worked! o_O
10 flights.On 3 our bags were numbers 1&2 out-1 on QF,1 on BA and 1 0n AA.
Another 3 flights nubers 1 and 3-twice on CX,1 on QF.
2 more flights one bag out fiirst the other further down. Both on JAL.
In all 10 both bags out amongst the priority baggage.
Truly outrageous.

Fake news surely??

I can't count the times (at MEL especially) I have watched the FIRST CLASS tagged bags come out after about 50 other bags.....

Completely OT..... but what do you think about people bringing kids into the office during school holidays?? OMG it is chaos in here. Seriously - get a nanny or stay at home. This is a place of work.

That's it - I am going to airport early - see, I did connect this comment with flying!!

This is a place of work.

Totally agree. And it seems that others are expected to accommodate the whims of the parents and children.

Another big part of the problem is that the children don't behave and run around making lots of noise disrupting the work of those who are covering for the parents who treat the office as a baby sitting club.

100%.
How about this - I won't bring my loud-mouth obnoxious tradie friends to your daycare, and you don't bring your grubby children to my place of work?

All we need is for a kid to trip over and break their neck and then the whole thing will off.... FFS people, why is everyone so self-entitled? Do pilots expect to be able to take their kids to work? Do Flight Attendants? Does anyone who doesn't work in a wanky PC inner city office? I can't decide what is worse - the forced welcome to country we do every morning (compelled speech), or the ad hoc day care?

A confession.I used to take my young son with me on weekend rounds from the ages of 2-6.It gave mrsdrron some time off but it was also quite often therapeutic.
Often if it was an older woman patient I was seeing he would go up to them, pat them on the hand and say-"don't worry my daddy will make you better."

To me the whole thing sounds like a HR disaster waiting to happen. Bringing a kid into a building filled with adults - some of whom might be a "risk" to children - is just cray cray. I cannot believe companies haven't woken up to that potential hazard. What happens if little Billy gets molested in the tea room? What happens if his description of the perp fits 10 guys (or girls)? Are they hauled before a Pell-style inquiry?

My solution: all workplaces are given a 24hr nightclub license so kids can't come in :)

It must be the antibiotics I am taking for a sinus infection (no doubt picked up from some grubby kid that someone dragged into the office).... but I am in a particularly zen mood today!

Question: QF club dress regs - why is that thongs and tank tops are banned, but filthy high-viz vests and head-to-toe tatts are ok?????? I would have thought, that on the totem pole of dress reg oppression, that tatts would def be at the top, and thongs and tank tops somewhat lower?? Or am I so old and out of touch?

You aren't Dr Patel, by any chance?

Off with your head.
QLD health did send me to Bundaberg hospital just after he left. But not to work.

Tats aren't really an indicator of the same thing they used to be … used to be "I'm tough, really tough, you'd better not look at me sideways because there's an 80% chance I've got my Glock on me & your brains will be all over that wall" … now it's "I've been to Bali *vapid giggle*".
So I'd say you're a bit out of touch there, yeah. :)

I suspect the problem with filthy high-viz is the definition of "dirty" from an enforcement point of view. There's nothing revolting exposed, like there is with thongs & tank-tops on blokes (would I be right in suspecting women are allowed to wear tank-tops?).

Absolutely. I do find it hilarious that in this world of gender equality and female excellentness in everything, we don't apply it to clothing.... #notfair

So I was having breakfast this morning in my hotel restaurant, and I left my phone in my room! What did I do? Well I started a conversation with the guy looking after my table - amazing how much we all miss out on by being all consumed with our devices... anyway, we are chatting and he tells me he has applied to Qantas Link as an FA, and if he gets the job, he has to do 4 weeks training UNPAID?!?!?! Surely that cannot be the case, I ask? And apparently, because of the dodgy way they set up the hiring structure now, it is all legal...... bloody outrageous. AJ takes a $26m bonus and his front-line staff don't get paid for training???

Talk about un-Australian... 4 Corners or someone should do an expose...
