LEA Airport obliterated

The effects of Cyclone Narelle has obliterated Learmouth Airport, and there will be no flights in and out of the airport for forseeable future.

This is catastrophic impact to the township and I hope WA Government can work around the clock to restore the airport.

I was wondering if a temporary tent terminal would be feasible if the runway is repaired?

Unfortunately, this is not the first time nor will it be the last that LEA and Exmouth have been whacked by a major cyclone. AFAIK, Narelle was far from the worst but LEA seemed to cop the worst inundation!

I think a few could use port Hedland in a pinch.

They could reactivate Meekathara as the alternate as it was in the 1970's. Although I doubt it would be up to it these days.
