Re: LAX TO MCO advice and Need New advice
I was searching for some stopover information and came across this old thread which I started. Thought I would post my experience to help anyone searching in the future and also ask some more questions for a new trip.
regarding the original post - I ended up choosing Virgin America there and AA back. We flew VX Main Cabin Select and got the bulk head row right behind Business. these seats were just like a VA row 3, plenty of extra leg room so comfortable for the 5 hrs to Orlando. Ticket included food and drinks, priority security and boarding. I am not certain about if I paid extra for baggage. I was SG at the time. I did try and do the upgrade at T-minus xhours online but wasn't successful. In the end I was very happy that I didnt cough any extra as our seats were more than fine, in fact very comfortable. One thing they did say with the Aisle seats of the Front Main Cabin Select seats was that if they needed them for a pax who had accessibility difficulties that we would have to vacate ( bit like Row 5 on VA 777 for families with babies) there was no issues so we all sat together which was great.
The trip back to LAX was AA in F. seats were 2 x 2 so we were split, the F cabin was full. As many would know F on AA Domestic is more a J service and I would say comparable to the J on Domestic QF on a 767. One thing that really stood out was the breakfast, it was the best airline meal I had ever had (aside from the J QF international that we had on the way over from AUS)
The prices were $US300 for VX and $US466 for AA. was the difference worth it? probably not, but I still liked it and with that difference might do it again, though now my company is in the VA camp that might sway me to keep my status earning with the one airline.
Anyway hope this assists anyone searching...I do have a further related question regarding stopovers.
On the same vein our next trip is planned like this :
BNE-LAX(6nights)
LAX-MCO(20nights)
MCO-JFK(7nights)
JFK-LAX-BNE
For a Flex fare (L)it says you can have 1 free stopover )+taxes. Now my questions :
If I were booking BNE-MCO, is LAX considered a stopover?
If so is there any advantage or disadvantage to this?
I priced both BNE-MCO(via LAX obviously) and BNE:LAX. There is roughly $500AUD difference in the Flex fare. I priced Delta LAX-MCO for same dates and its basically the same price $500AUD. So from this, at least price wise I cant see much if any advantage of booking it as one ( Im WP if makes any diff)
Am I looking at this the right way or am I way off? appreciate advice oh wise ones
