LAX Third Class Lounge [@TBIT + new lounge information]

Sitting in the lounge now in Terminal 4 waiting for QF16. I was really expecting a sh@*hole after ready the forum but it is quite spacious and bearable.

T4 isn't Tom Bradley though, which is what this discussion has been about. The T4 lounge was refurbished sometime ago, and although it is clearly an AA lounge I beleive Qantas chipped in some money to try to bring it up to Qantas standards. That was of course when Qantas had more flights out of T4.

So, I've been going to some of those newsletter reports and it seems like the new core bit is due to open in May, is still the latest? I'm booked to travel through LAX end of May so super keen to get a glimpse at the new terminal... I assume the new lounges will follow later, does anyone know? When are the new Duty Free stores due to open up? And most importantly, do we know when the direct connections to terminal 4 will be finished? The latter will improve the experience at LAX by 100% when changing planes...

Aside from that, they do have a range of "complimentary" (basic) alcoholic drinks available - just ask.

The complimentary selection is usually ok/ quite good. Bud light or similar on draft and basic spirits with an American pour. Do be kind and tip your bartender though folks!

Love that comment, you can't stress this enough. Better get used to the local customs in the lounge than ending up like one of those stingy tourists who don't tip while over in the US!

Or you can be one of those annoying people who thinks they will change the world by not tipping in the USA...........

I have a good mate who's from the Us and his partner is Aussie. They ALWAYS fight about this topic which I find very funny. Taking it out on a poor underpaid waiter will NOT change the salary system in the US. And neither is it any of your business- coming up with excuses like this doesn't make you less of an a#$@hole if you don't tip them. And with the current exchange rate, the US is so ridiculously cheap, there is even less an excuse in my eyes. I don't like it either if your restaurant check tells you that the waiters are paid "only 50% of the minimum wage". But hey, when in Rome...

Oups. Just realized that we're getting very off topic here. My apologies!

We can relate it back to tipping at the bar when getting drinks in airline lounges :)

I have always tipped in the USA but once I gave a $1 note tip for a $70ish meal because the service was cough. I left a note explaining that I fully understand that I should give 10% a a minimum, but the food was bad, you didn't want to fix the poor food, you didn't look after us as a result here is $1 as a tip.
