Have been stuck in the customs hall for the last 80 minutes while the airport is in lockdown. Apparently there has been a shooting at terminal 3.

Still stuck in the customs hall at TBIT with hundreds of other people as the incoming flights back up

Am currently in ATL, heading to DFW then LAX to fly out on QF12 tonight. I hope.

I'm currently in TBIT at Gate 119. It's an absolute disaster in LAX.

Nothing moving.

Be happy you're in customs. It's not fun out here in the arrivals hall. We're in lockdown too. Have to be escorted to restrooms. Wish I was in customs instead :-/

The Age is reporting that it was a fellow TSA agent who was the shooter.

It is understood the gunman was also employed by the TSA, and opened fire on his colleagues.

The gunman is now in custody, according to police.

"It's like a ghost town": Virgin Australia passenger Alexander Reid took this photo from the VA1 Boeing 777-300ER, which is sitting on the tarmac with 361 passengers on board. Photo: Alexander Reid

At least "three or four" other TSA employees were injured in the attack.

Terminal 3 is one of nine terminals within the LAX complex.
Since 2012, it has been the terminal base of the airlines JetBlue, Spirit, Virgin America and Virgin Australia.
Virgin Australia's daily flight, number VA1, landed at the airport minutes before it was closed to air traffic at 10am, local time.

Stay safe all and here's hoping you're allowed out soon.

and further from the above report:

Another witness, Australian school student Josh Odermatt, was evacuated from inside the terminal after it was placed on lockdown.

Mr Odermatt said police swept the airport room by room ahead of evacuating passengers and staff.
He said police told passengers to "step around" any bullet casings or blood, in order to protect potential evidence.

"The police are doing an incredible job, and grateful that we are all safe," Odermatt later posted on Twitter.

The 7am ABC radio news is not reporting any deaths, but some injuries. I hope the terminal can be secured soon, and flights resume. Looks like there are a few AFFers caught up in this. Stay safe.

At least one death is being reported here.

Currently in T4 Flagship lounge

In the middle of a 'run' .... to nowhere at the moment

Next flight already cancelled

Maybe no flights but still ORC (original routing credit).

HLO so has been in / out of FL looking for news !

The board is full of cancelled flights - just like the movies, really

Been here for nearly 5 hours now, they have just bought out biscuits and drinks but they have specified that they are only for Qantas passengers

With all the confusion at LAX, its probably hard to work out what is the "normal LAX confusion" versus the extra confusion brought about by the incident

So it's about 4 hrs now, have you started to move again?

I knew things were bad when I finally escaped TBIT and a cop asked if me if I knew what was going on, was it ok to let people back into the terminals
