Hi, traveling to LAX on QF107 on a Tuesday in May.

What at can I expect for immigration waiting times? I will be traveling PE.

thanks

Hard to say, but I'd expect TBIT to be busy. That way if it's not then it's a win, if it is, well you expected it to be so...

I will be going to JFK on QF107. I have to clear immigration at LAX, right?

You should allow 3 hrs to avoid any possible disappointment.

With luck, it could be shorter but don't bet on it.

Yes, you need to clear Customs & Immigration at LAX.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

look at your ticket for the gap between arrival and boarding the connecting flight. It can be a madhouse in there (1-3 hours!) especially if a few planes of non english speakers land at the same time.

Do QF allow enough time for immigration clearance or is it usually a bit of a rush?

Assuming you are staying on QF107 you will have no dramas as they whole plane has to do the same thing

You should get orange transfer cards if going to JFK. There is a thread somewhere in here about transferring on qf107
have a read of that.
Im going in end of may on qf107 also in Y+ but leaving on Saturday.

Fingers crossed for new QF TBIT lounge to be ready. the mid year setback was to open in may/June. Here is hoping its May and not June. Does anyone mind checking how the new lounge in tbit is coming along and maybe guess when when it will be ready. Might start a new thread closer to the time.

The wife and number two (16 years old) went to LA last week for 5 days.. Arrived at LAX on QF15 (J) on Good Friday morning at 6:30 and were in at their room at Sheraton Gateway LAX at 7:30AM. They even commented that the US Immigration guy was nice. The only other flight there was the Virgin one from BNE. It's a fluke I'm sure. It can be a shocker when you arrive at the same time as the El Al flight or something from Asia.. But they know you are coming for the 107 to JFK. So I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't forget your bags..

Incidentally they came home on the QF16 yesterday which on May the 1st transfers to TBIT. For the first time they used one of those remote stands at the West Gates.. That Terminal 4 is a dump.

So if I put in 15/4/14 and then create a report.....if my plane gets in at 0800-0900 then the wait time max HAS BEEN been 30 minutes?
Seems about right to me for the past 3 flights I have got in at that time.....hope it continues!

Clint Eastwood should advertise LAX: "Are you feeling lucky, punk" :)

I took QF107 in January. Might be a time of year thing, but I was kerbside (bags and all) within 20 minutes of exiting the aircraft.

All the information is available here: Airport Wait Times
You can create a report for TBIT at LAX and see the breakdown by time of day.

Well that's pretty cool, so based on historical averages, we're looking at between 30 to 60 minutes on the day we arrive... Kinda what I was expecting... :)

Hope it is not a long wait but don't stress as you are on another QF flight.

There will be other people in the same position as you anyway.

In June 2013, surprisingly, LAX customs and immigration were a breeze. Very short queues. The only downside was the need to wait on the inbound flight for 25 minutes until the 6.30am US Border Control opening time - not allowed to open the plane doors until this time....

2 hours and 10 minutes between flights does not seem much / enough time but as per Simo there will be others like you and the plane will wait.

Incidentally they came home on the QF16 yesterday which on May the 1st transfers to TBIT. For the first time they used one of those remote stands at the West Gates.. That Terminal 4 is a dump.

So they would've got on one of these babies to get there.

On April 29th, travelling on QF107 in J, and arriving at 630am, it took 30 minutes to clear C & I at Lax and reach kerbside....would have been quicker if the officer didn't insist on my +! and I approaching his booth separately:shock::confused:
