LAX First Class Lounge access question

Aaaargghhh!!!

I'm so glad I joined AFF - I never stop learning. The last three times to the US on QF were J with onwards connections in F on AA. I had no idea LAX had a flagship lounge that we could have had access to, and the Admirals Club door persons certainly didn't go out of their way to tell us, even though they insisted on printing us new AA boarding passes (with TSA precheck! - not much use once you're in the Admirals Club airside).

Yes, such a wealth of information. Lucky us.

If you were arriving QF J and connecting to AA F (unless on select transcontinental services), and without oneworld emerald status, you would not have been entitled to Flagship Lounge Access - only the AAdmirals Club (or business class lounge).

Lounge access based on class of service concerns only the arriving long-haul flight (ie business class).

Note that there are some pretty good showers at the T4 flagship lounge if that is all you are after.

In any case, I would not be departing TBIT any time later than 75 minutes before the scheduled departure of time of your IAH flight (& 90 minutes if from a gate 44).

The OP mentioned travelling with spouse & child - he may be refused access to the Flagship lounge at T4, but be given access to the Admiral's lounge. Though the lounge aangles may be more lenient regarding a 2yo than they were with my 6yo 2yrs ago.

Agree with timing between TBIT and T4.

Hi everyone,

Just following up to let you know that I indeed was allowed access to the Lounge. Was pretty much empty in the morning and my wife, daughter and I got a shower immediately upon arrival then had time for a drink or two before leaving to get through security at the other terminal. :D

Also, no problem with the child as young children don't count as guests.

No trouble for us accessing the QF J lounge on an AA BP for T4 either. The checker at security did point out that our flight was T4 but no issue otherwise with TSA or QF.

Yes the TSA person checking tickets tried to redirect us to Terminal 4 and I simply said "Yes, I know we depart from Terminal 4 but we are coming into this terminal to access the QANTAS lounge" and they let me through.

We left 55 minutes before boarding and made it to Gate 44 with 10 minutes to spare before boarding. Even managed a drink in the little remote AA Admirals Club. We did however manage to walk straight onto the bus.
