LAX Check-in Time [Full service now from 6pm]

I must say our check-in at ca 4:30pm was fine and very friendly. Then about 30mins later we made it to the Flounge. And the time just disappeared after then... with some meals, showers, shopping and relaxation.

Yes I think this will basically be the plan - again thanks to everyone for your contributions.

I got there just before 4 and had to wait for about 15 minutes to get checked it and then breezed through security in about 5 minutes - didn't have to take off shoes or anything - the week before flying to SEA then ANC took nearly an hour and it was chaos

and now to the 2 really really important questions - what Champs and Reds offered in QF F Lounge pls?

Nobody drinks in the F Lounge?

Sorry I can't remember what the offerings were! I have had drinks there but it couldn't have been all that impressive as I can't remember what they were!

QF check-in at TBIT

I've done a search but can only find old threads. Can anyone tell me what the earliest check-in time for J class QF16 LAX-BNE is. SWMBO will only have HLO. Also what time does the J lounge open. Thanks in advance

Officially, checkin opens at 6pm - Los Angeles International Airport Guide | Qantas
Though if she's HLO, she can check in online, print out her ticket, and go through security. If she does that, QF staff in the lounge or at the gate will need to process her immigration details before she will be able to board.

The J Lounge at TBIT is effectively open from 6:30am - 11:30pm.

Thanks for the reply Katie. I had a feeling that last time I was there I was able to go thru check in at either 2 or 4 o'clock, cant remember which.
The reason for my wanting to get her through early is because I am catching the NZ LAX-AKL-BNE flight @ 20.30 whilst she is on QF LAX-BNE @ 23.20, direct and I was hoping not to leave her out in the main terminal after I had checked in for my NZ flight

The last time I departed from TBIT, I arrived shortly after 4pm and was able to check in for QF12 right away.
There is a limited (2 desks) early check in open at 4pm. Full service opens at 6.

HLO?!?!? My partner and I have never checked in at TBIT with fewer than 3 bags each (more when they used to have the really cheap online pre-purchase for excess luggage).

SWMBO will be HLO. I will have all the luggage with me on my flight. Don't want her lugging all the bags.

Interesting that they have removed mention of early check-in.

Back in April the webpage noted early check-in opening at 4pm, and in the past it was as early as 2pm.

If early check-in is gone it could be due to factors beyond Qantas's control, such as limited availability of check-in desks as per madrooster's post.

If you can find more space for check in desks in TBIT, I'm sure they'd be all ears. EK used to occupy the QF counters but I think EK uses a different set of counters now and someone else uses the QF counters until their flight departs, then QF opens.

QF is the only carrier at TBIT in recent years that has had long check in opening hours without having flights departing until late in the evening.

For example, VA departs from TBIT but can't move their check in to TBIT due to a lack of available check in desks, hence why VA pax check in at T3 and walk over...

Can you please let me known the latest info when you've done your trip. I am hoping to check in my +1 for her QF flight when I check in for my ANZ flight which departs 3 hours earlier than hers
