I'm about to head to Seattle from BNE via a 5 hour layover in LAX. Is it possible for WP's to use the QF First Lounge at TBIT on arrival if the connecting flight is with Alaskan (sold by QF) from Terminal 6? If not, what is the best lounge option available?

If you want to use the QF F lounge you'll have to re clear security into TBIT, use the lounge then clear security at T 6 for the AS flight, as there is no 'transit' at LAX. And yes, you will be able to use the AS Boardroom at T6 as well. But take lounge access rules with you in hard copy.

I have to say that whenever we've gone to the Boardroom in T6 Mrs B and I have never had trouble getting in. Mrs B even got in with her PS card once not sure if that was by error though. They have a folder with pictures of all the eligible QF cards that allow entry.

With 5 hours it's almost be worth reclearing TBIT security to use the FLounge though. The Boardroom is fairly basic. Although as RooFlyer stated this means going through security twice.

Definitely the F lounge - here are some pictures of the Alaskan lounge - they're not great as they're on my phone - I think it took me over an hour to get through security into Terminal 6 in September last year

So access to the F lounge failed, with the lady at reception telling me that because Alaskan are not in OneWorld that I was not eligible to use the lounge, despite it being booked on a QF ticket and having just arrived on QF tin. She then went on to politely (!!) let me know that as far as she is aware, the Alaskan Boardroom only allows Qantas Club members access as Alaskan don't honour OW status.

Anyways, good news is that the Boardroom, crew had no objections with letting me in and were far more friendly than the Qantas f-lounge staff.

You may want to have a look at this thread, or at least the first post. You should have been admitted. That post was the experience of a Qantas Club member; as QFF WP your rights are greater and extend to the First lounge.

However, when you originally posted "sold by Qantas", I assumed your flight on Alaskan metal had a QF flight number. If Qantas sold you an AS flight number, then the situation is different and they were correct in denying you entry (and my earlier advice would have been wrong, sorry).

Access denial was correct -

"Next onward flight must be on a Qantas, Jetstar Airlines+ or oneworld operated and marketed flight

I was hoping you'd come onto the thread. That's pretty clear cut. So the responses from QF on the phone (post 1 on the 'confused' thread were wrong also?

1/ I'm always skeptical about phone advice.

I believe the website stated Access Rules are always the safest ones to go by. Plus you can screenshot and produce them at will.

2/ In relation to this thread - the grey area (aka Dragon-Conflict-Zone) would be if traveling on AS in First on a QF Code. As the Access Rules could be read in a way that actually permits access under these conditions.
