I dropped from SG to PS+QP at the start of the month, and have an international flight out of MEL coming up. I don't normally fly out of MEL and aren't quite sure if there will be any lounges open I can get into. I fly QF BNE-MEL and arrive around 21:50, then fly out on a QF codeshare on EK metal at 02:40.

If what I read on the Qantas website is correct, the QF Intl J lounge closes at 10:30 (to conincide with the last QF metal flight), so I'd have at most 30 minutes there. The EK lounge would presumably be open for their late night flight, however I think I lost access to that when I dropped from SG and QP only gives you access to the EK lounge in DXB.

Does that sounds right, and I (and mrsdoctau) will be in for a boring 5 hours late at night in the MEL terminal? I wonder if anything interesting will be open that late.

I'm on the MH midnight MEL-KUL soon. Should I pray for delays to QF9 so they keep F open beyond 7.30pm?

QF9 shifts to a 2255 departure on July 20 which will presumably result in the F lounge staying open later.

It will. Red Roo confirmed this another thread somewhere. Which thread escapes me though....

With such a large gap between QF93 and QF9 post mid-July, I wonder if QF will keep the F lounge open for the mid/late afternoon departures that don't have F?

Based on past on past experiences this will not be a problem.

They do look at the number of eligible (e.g. WP) passengers flying off elsewhere in the interim (say to NZ) in regards to staffing/catering though.

Also the First kerbside check-in may be closed and the Spa might not operate during the period.

First kerbside already closes with the current MEL-LHR and MEL-LAX timings for a few hours between the departures.
