I say it's the destination, not the journey. If possible go to both.

Agree both good destinations offering slightly different takes on the Sydney beach experience. Walk to Shelley from Manly or Tamarama from Bondi

I imagine you will, but I would include walk in sydney botanic gardens, next to Opera House. Especially walk along water side, also interesting plants in garden. From cairns, drive up through Tablelands, lovely scenery. Enjoy your trip, as a transplanted Yank myself, I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Our friends from Ohio loved Margaret River wineries that are just around 3 hours south of Perth driving.
Now on the roads you don't do short rights and long lefts as we drive on the other side of the road.
Go for ferry rides around Sydney Harbour and starting from Circular Quay gets you good choices.
No tipping required unless the service is exceptional.

Sunshine Coast got to Australia Zoo for the crocodile show which is about midday everyday I live about 5 minutes from there. Give me a yell and might be able to have a catch up with you.

If going up the sunny coast I'd suggest calling into Caloundra and having fishnchips from 'The Sandbar' on the beautiful Bulcock Beach.

Not a fan of the Sandbar... Too expensive for what you get. Try the other shop a few minutes down the road.

A JohnM tour of Perth could be amazing. Definitely a good idea if JohnM is around for your timing.

Time Built in for anything that sparks our Interest

Wonderful Itinerary.

I'll throw in a couple of tips for you.

Uluru
Get to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Only a short distance (maybe 15 kms?) away. Beautiful.
If you have an extra day, try to get to Kings Canyon. Maybe 120kms away directly, but you had to go the long way in a car. Worth it.

Melbourne
Get to De Graves Lane in the city (Downtown to you). Sample Melbourne atmosphere, then catch the Tram (No.96, I think) to St. Kilda (Fitzroy St.) and again, sample the atmosphere.

Sydney
Bondi and Manly Beaches are great, both can be visited in a morning. Get futher north to Palm or Whale Beach. Beautiful!
And yep, Sydney Harbour Bridge climb is a must. But also harbour cruise. The Ferry to Manly is a great substitution for this.

Most of all enjoy. We are a kooky lot, some strange habits. But we don't bite! Only most of the wildlife does that. (that includes Kings Cross, Sydney on a Saturday night, Avoid like the plague!)

120km is quite a drive...Is GPS available around Uluru area?

Kings-X is no longer the place it used to be. Looks like you're out of touch.

 120 km quite a drive in the NT  - I hardly think so . And a GPS is unnecessary - just follow the signs on the (few) sealed roads :p. No prospect whatsoever of getting lost.

GPS is global. Hence the "G". It works least well in cities because the satellites are often at low angles. The better question is "are your maps up to date"?

I was in Kings Canyon last April. Previously visited about 10 years before. Thought it was and still is beautiful.

Perhaps, "out of touch" is a matter of personal perspective.

Is that what you wanted me to read?

Yep.

And how does that fare with you initial comment, "looks like you are out of touch"

Now, referring to Kings Canyon. I was quite puzzled?? I truly thought it was a rude comment.

But as somehow, you thought I was endorsing Kings Cross? I fail to see the connection?

So, your later post and video...(on Kings Cross??) just not seeing why you needed to make such a remark? Clearly, I understand now, you did not read it properly and just made what you thought was a condescending and rude remark.

Well, get ya butt out and see Kings Canyon .
Instead of prowling the lanes of William St. Ok!

I suppose that makes you feel better.
