Landed in HK with no luggage

Flew SQ from SYD-SIN-HKG and landed without my luggage arriving. Only have just the clothes I'm wearing. Left all details with the baggage guys at HKIA. What a start to my holidays .... f#&k .. f*%k. Sorry guys really pissed off. Should I get some clothes before calling the airline and travel insurer?

Call the airline first and they will advise, I suspect a clothes purchase is a no brainer.

DEpends on your policy... TI clothing allowance often only kicks in after 6/12hrs.

This is why I generally don't check and when I do have a backup of essentials in carry-on.

I hope you have not left the airport without a tracking number and a copy of the documentation they have you fill out.

yep printed document with file reference, my name, flight details etc. File reference traceable on world tracer. Status comes up as "Tracing continues. Please check back later". :-(

you learn that especially as you trek across Africa....carry what you need and dont cry about what you lose.

Yes most disappointing though with SIA, turn it into a positive experience, buy what you've always want to wear!!!

I could not possibly carry what I need so need to check luggage.

How hard is it to transport luggage and have it arrive on time?

Tried calling SIA HK ... no one at the office. Sunday in HK.

It was a new bag ( Samsonite Firelite). Bought two tags one on each handle to make sure no one picks it up by mistake.

Call your TI and give trhem the details serfty mentioned earlier. This starts the clock on the 6/12/24 hrs you have to wait for delayed luggage payment. In the meantime head to a market and spend AUD$20 and you'll have a pair of shorts, tee shirt and undies to get you through today (keep them as a souvenir / packing reminder for next time!). Once the time specified by your TI has passed, enjoy the free shopping opportunity!

Finally the bag and I are united after a separation of 48hrs. They found a bag with matching description in SIN but without any tags. I had on two personal ID tags one on each handle plus the airline tag. Just can't imagine how all three tags were removed or ripped off. Brand new bag with scratches all round. Had to provide TSA code to prove myself, the man goes away and comes back .... drum roll .... "Yes, Mr wazza that is correct the bag will be delivered to you asap". So happy now and a thank you to all.

I just struggle to see how it would get reception in the luggage bowels of an airport
(I guess at least it could determine which airport it is at, but that probably doesn't help much)
