LAN seat selection

I have made a booking on LAN from AKL-SYD for a couple of family members. When I go into "My Trips" on the LAN website to select seats, it comes up with a message "cabin or flight does not allow seat reservation". The booking was made directly through LAN and the flight has an LA flight number.

Any ideas if this is a glitch, and how I might be able to get around it? Or does LAN really not allow seat selection on this flight?

LAN has a dreadful seat selection system and history. A couple of threads to give you the idea:

Sorry, no good suggestions but its not a new issue. Don't bother calling LAN, you'll get a call centre in Chile, or somewhere.

Ah yes, I have fond memories of that wonderful call centre in Chile. I spent a lot of time on the phone with them at one point last year. The calls kept cutting out and they were not able to solve anything...
