It is now 5 years since v1213 posted the following:

"I've got an upcoming SYD-AKL return status run on LAN and when doing seat selections online it appears as though seats 1A, 1C, 2A, 2C, 6D and 6H don't exist. Expert Flyer shows that these seats are being used for the Qantas codeshare (QF322) and hence why they're holes in the LAN seat map.

My question is what's the deal with selecting the seats that are on the codeshare? I called QF, who advised me to call LAN, who advised me to call QF.

Is my only option to wait until the 2 flights are combined into the same inventory at check-in?"

I fly across SYD - SCL on LA806/807 QF 27/28 several times a year - and I can guarantee you nothing has changed. Just in case some new development had occurred, I tried again today - am flying J class next week back to Chile on a LAN marketed QF metal flight.

Yet again I got the merry-go-round with QF saying I had call LAN, and LAN swearing QF were the only people who could allocate seating.

Would have been nice if this issue had been resolved in the last five years. Maybe in ten? :)

mannej, if you mean my ticket - it is ticketed as LA806

Am not so sure - when I am flying on a QF marketed ticket these routes, and do seat selection via QF, they can only see a partial seatmap.

I'm past caring about qff benefits or status , and have a current booking direct with LAN that allowed immediate seat selection ….

tgh, do you mean on the SYD-SCL route? The only way I know to guarantee seat selection is to pick LA800/801 (instead of codeshare QF321/322) and thus book a LAN ticket on LAN metal - is that what you mean? I just don't really like having to stopover in AKL.

From brisvegas , so emirates to akl and then scl LA800
Pretty good price….

OT question.

We've got some LAN flights (metal/ticket) booked directly with LAN ... anyway I can get/see these bookings on QFF?

I couldn't until I put the PNR ref in and aaawwwaaayyy it went.
Just as well as my slack ta had not put my qff number in the booking.
Definitely a connected world these days

I do not believe you can, but it appears tgh has a different experience? I mean for LA-only ticketed bookings.

If there is at least one flight on QF ticket, then the whole itinerary can appear, but you cannot select seats for anything except the QF ticketed sectors

Edit: I believe you need at least one QF ticketed sector, otherwise you only have a LAN PNR which will NOT be recognized by the QF system.

I suspect the emirates leg has a QF codeshare ticket? That would explain it being recognizable by QF system.

sorry to muddy the waters ….I'm coming back akl > bne on qf metal.
I selected my seats on the LAN website .

I selected my seats on the LAN website .

That is indeed interesting!! Is that on QF124 but on a LAN codeshare number? What is the flight number? And does it show a full seat map when you go into seat selection?

sigh .. I need to retreat from this conversation using senilty as an excuse for my vagueness
I'm actually coming home scl>akl>syd on LAN and syd>bne on Qf
The qantas website isn't showing the seat selection scl>syd , but I'm sure it was selected on the LAN website, I will go and look.
Didn't bother selecting a seat syd>bne

The flights are Chile/Peru - booked directly with LAN. I've been able to select seats and can see my booking on LAN website. When I've booked other OW flights I've been able to see the booking on QFF.

I have some LAN only flights coming up and they don't appear on QF MMB. Whether or not other airline's flights appear on QF I think depends if they share the same booking engine; these two apparently don't.

My current issue is that its not recognising my OW Emerald, so my seat selection begins at row 20 or something  .

I had a TA book these flights due to mixed classes ... I've got Amadeus PNR and LA PNR - they are different.

Had no issues selecting seat ... the OWE feature is pretty cool.
