So which kinds of restricted powders are people most likely to get caught out by this rule?

I can't imagine people having too many kinds of powders with them, and most of the others are organic ones.

Talcum powder and makeup would seem to be the prime candidates.

Sand.

People who buy decorative sand pictures/layered sand in a bottle and don’t put it in their checked luggage. Hopefully they’re less than 300g though.

Well, it’s all about security. Mention security and we don’t jump but ask, how high.

Nothing to do with security. You can take an empty 600mL bottle with you airside in most airports and fill it up with water airside. Or you can take 6 x 100mL bottles of water through security.

Without reading any of the posts in this thread, I’m guessing there is a general air of bemusement and resignation.
I can see (for me anyway) a time where I will just buy what I need when I travel, and discard before returning. This could be a real pain if changing planes a fair buy in a long haul RTW adventure.

The article implies that from c.2022 in the UK, (P)LAGs 100ml/ one litre in total restrictions will become past history.

Am I correctly reading it? The current restrictions are a pain, and arguably another example of employment-generating security that doesn't address real problems. Individual passenger profiling might be better, and what about all those who work at airports, including in logistics, or visit (through freight gates etc.) airport tarmacs?
