Slumming it on Jetstar 3K664 which should have got me into SIN at 12.30pm. Flight has been pushed back at this stage to leave KUL at 3.05pm due to "engineering issues". Not happy Jan. Fortunately I have access to the Plaza Premium Lounge so I have somewhere to camp for the next 4 hours.

See you in SIN sometime this afternoon.

And we are now in the Skyview lounge.

I missed you peeps in my mad dash from MH3 to M72. (MH3 was an hour late, giving me a 35 min connection.....that proved easy enough in the end.)

In KUL now.

Cannot get TG boarding pass until ~2 hours before flight. MH has stuffed me around enough and didn't want to let me use their lounge saying it's TG responsibility.

Why do I have to explain to them I am a Oneworld Emerald on an MH business class ticket and entitled to lounge access regardless. I persevered and they let us in out of the goodness of their heart until they sort out boarding passes.

In the Platinum side now. Lounge is as poor as I remember it. No hot food in sight. No beer in sight. Someone has to specially bring it to me.

Oh and there are lots of cancelled flights today. HKG, SYD, MEL etc. What's going on?

Finally managed to get boarding pass from TG as MH didn't want to know about it. Going to have fun claiming Original Routing Credit on Qantas for me and Aadvantage for fiancee.

Great to catch up with everyone. Shame we could not stay long. Will try to plan better for next one.

P.S. Lost SGD12 at casino. Should have left when we were SGD10 in front. ;)

I have made it back to HH KUL after a great day catching up with everyone in a number of lounges across two countries.

For the record:

KUL - MH Satellite First and Business lounges, MH Regional lounge, CX lounge
SIN - QF lounge, Skyview lounge, MH lounge, T2 landside staff canteen, EK lounge (for some)

Phew!

Thank you to everyone who made it to one country or another, and I am sorry that some got "that close" and didn't quite make it. A great weekend.

Anna and I have already been discussing next year's lounge run. We will try to firm up some details in the next few weeks.

Thanks, Jess. Definitely an excellent day out and looking forward to the next edition (hopefully I can attend). :)

SIN transfer desk has again managed to misplace my luggage again. :(

It would be less painless to do it myself than put any trust in them to do such a simple task.

I'm back in Sydney now. Enjoying winter sun.

To the important question. Which lounge is best? KL the regional golden lounge is probably my pick. The atmosphere being the deciding factor.

Singapore is harder to pick than a broken nose. The Emirates lounge was my favourite last time. But qantas has grown on me. Perhaps it was the list of coughtails to try that sucked me in, the food seems to have improved. Being offered sparkling wine when asking for champagne is disappointing.

Definitely agree on the KUL regional lounge. The dinner at the F restaurant can be quite good depending on the menu, so it's sometimes still worth a wander over.

Looking forward to try the refurb'ed BA lounge when it opens in a few months time. Looking through the gap of the door, they have completely gutted the place and rebuilding it from scratch.

Missed lunch in Sydney with Joshua by minutes. Instead had a couple of drinks with some mates from school. Caught myself falling asleep of the 3rd round. Back to reality tomorrow.
