KUL SIN lounge crawl 7 June 2015

Anyone staying at the KUL Hilton on Saturday night?

Losing Gold status in March and looking for 2 guest spots is highly optimistic.

I think Klang was mentioned for Sat night dinner, although I'm not familiar with the area so probably wouldn't be much help organising it. However, if that falls through, I guess I can put together a backup plan pretty quickly - meet up at KL Sentral, catch the monorail a few stops, and do a food crawl along Jalan Alor. So in that sense, don't worry, we won't starve on Sat night. :p

I mentioned Klang but last visit was 16 years ago so it's probably gone now. Heading to KUL this Sat, will enquire about it.

For those looking at QF flights out of SIN on 7 June, the following flights are currently listed as having the new config:

QF36 SIN-MEL 19:55
QF52 SIN-BNE 20:50

So if you must fly direct into SYD, unfortunately, you'll at best have a very slopey sleep.

Flights on the Sunday to/from Bangkok are now a little on the expensive side. Even more expensive flying to KUL on Saturday noon and then SIN Sunday morning and return to BKK Sunday night.

And the silly part is these are non earning airfares.

I have been fighting the MH website trying to determine what I can do with 9,000 Enrich miles.

From what I gather after going through the thread, here is the list of attendees, in some sort of intention order:

QF award BKK-KUL-SIN return on 07 Jun 2015 for 2 people costs 56,000 QFF points + ~AUD335!

When I got up off the floor I realised that if I valued QFF points at $0.006875 each then I'd break even on the expensive paid fare.

Any ideas? AA miles? Enrich points?

Still out of ideas.

Airfares BKK-KUL-SIN and return Sunday 07 June are out of control.

Have AFFers cleared out the cheap buckets?

The one-way price for KUL-SIN still looks the same as before.
The return for 2 people KUL-SIN is ~MYR1174 which is awfully expensive for MH. Just saying.

Interesting observation regarding MH cash + miles.

BKK-SIN return for 2 people is 34,000 Enrich miles + THB12,740. If using cash + miles then you need 1,000 Enrich miles + ~THB20,040 and it would appear each 1,000 Enrich miles takes off ~THB300. What a rort. If I transfer Enrich miles between accounts they charge 3 x per 1,000 Enrich miles for the transfer to what you can redeem them.

The paid economy promo fare for 2 people is now ~THB21,760 and earns nothing.

Is the MH airfare going to get more expensive? A Jetstar Asia cheapie only allows access to Qantas lounge. Running out of options.

Hello everyone

Is it still possible to join you for part of this trip? It looks like I am going to Singapore (first time) on that weekend (and onward to Europe later that week) and thought maybe this is a good idea? I have not yet booked my flights to Singapore. I am OWS so I would need to be guested in to the first class areas. Also I am departing from Sydney and would love it if somehow I could be guested into the FC lounge? Maybe I'm asking too much.

Thanks anyway

Never too late. In fact the more the merrier.

Your only problem is going to be you need a ticket out of SIN on that Sunday to access the lounges.

I should also add that there are no F areas to speak of in any of the SIN lounges on our itinerary, so you won't need to worry about guesting. Although, if you have the Saturday night spare, you can also consider coming up for a short trip to KUL where some of us will be having dinner, and then doing the first part of the crawl the next morning in KUL before flying down to SIN. MH has a F section in the satellite lounge, and the restaurant is open for a-la-carte breakfast.

The MH F lounge menu. Sorry, first time posting w pic so no idea how to turn it to its right position:oops:
Food quality was amazingly good.

The MH F lounge menu.
They have different cycles, and generally changes every Monday. Plus there's a separate menu for breakfast which we will be sampling. Or, if you happen to be flying around Christmas time, there's a Christmas buffet complete with roast (the chef cuts it out in front of you) and lobsters.

Lobsters? Hmmm might plan another trip for Christmas then!

Was there in December ordered the club sandwich, was one of the worst excuses for a club sandwich ever. The bread wasn't even toasted! :(

Hopefully it was just an off day.

Post your flights in the lounge meetups thread and someone may be on a coinciding flight.
