Fly from Kuala Lumpur to London on Business Class with Srilankan Airlines for $2,387 AUD return. Departure dates are scattered but between 19 May to 7 July and 25 September to 30 November 2017. Flights are via Colombo with layover times of 3 hours either way.

For people from Oz
Well Srilankan Airlines doesn’t fly to Australia. However Air Asia has a super cheap deal to Kuala Lumpur currently – which was posted on this here for $220 return (ex Sydney). As long as your dates match and you leave enough time to catch your Srilankan Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur (possibly staying a night or two), a mix economy/business class fare can be had for $2,607 return (ex Sydney).

The Experience
The first leg of the flight (Kuala Lumpur to Colombo and return) will be aboard a A320 which unfortunately sports a recliner seat offering 41 inch seat pitch. But thereafter things improve as the second leg (Colombo to London and return) is aboard a A333 offering a lie flat seat (reverse herringbone) and a generous 77 inch seat pitch.

In terms of lounge access, Srilankan Business Class passengers use the Plaza lounge in Kuala Lumpur (which is small and can get very busy at times) and in London it channels its premium paying guests to the British Airways Galleries lounge in T3 (which offers a Elmis Spa experience). While at its home base in Colombo you can relax in the Serendib lounge (known for its extensive food options)

The Frequent Flyer Synopsis
Srilankan Airlines is part of the Oneworld Alliance (which Qantas is part of). A example Kuala-Lumpur-London (via Colombo) return flight will net you 18,000 points and 400 status credits. While the points earned is pretty measly, it is enough to redeem a return ticket from Sydney to Brisbane (16,000 points) or a oneway ticket to Wellington (18,000 points). However the real value lies in the status credits earned. 400 status credits is enough to earn you the silver tier (300) and more than half way to gold (700).
