Hi all,

Will be arriving at klia approx 9 pm tomorrow do they sell data SIM cards for the iPad mini? Which is best to get? I'm only there for 4 nights.

I am arriving 9am on the same day, and I have bought a WW Global sim for my iPhone 4S to try out. Doesn't help you, I know, just saying'.

Go to the hotlink booth on the right as you enter the public area of the arrivals hall, its near the lifts to the train.

The 1gb for RM30 should do the trick.

You need to sign up on the spot but the booth will do it for you, takes around 5 min. There are also booths before immigration for sims etc, have not used them but that might be best as it will absorb baggage waiting time.

Was about to start a thread but saw this one instead

My current data sim card doesn't work o/s so will try to pick up one of these Hotlink sims next. I'm not familiar with the ipad mini but I'll need a micro sim so is that the same?
Will the Hotlink booth be open about 9:30pm ?

Why do I feel like ive been ripped off? Went to the hotlink counter near dunkin donuts. Asked for the 30Ringgit 1gb sim card. The girl said the sim costs an extra 20. Now I get a message saying is only been topped up to 25. And to make it worse the receipt she gave was hand written, so basically she could write anything.

So all up ive paid 50 for 25 value?

Edited to add: well doing some menu inspecting on the KLIA Express, turns out I do have 1gb, with some bonus 500mb too.. so maybe I am wrong.

The Sim should cost 8.80RM regardless if for voice or data. (They are the same thing). Then you pay for data on top. 1GB is 30RM and they have a bonus for an additional 500MB at the moment as a promotion for launching their prepaid 4G services.

So 50RM is wrong then..I got the promotional 500mb extra. Anyhow I'll need to figure out how to keep it activated/topped up from Aus, as I wont be back in Malaysia before the expiry of the prepaid credit.

It's quite common for them to do this, you've got to point out the SIM starter costs 8.80RM. Once they asked me to pay 30RM for the SIM... i guess they might pocket the difference?

I tried to top up last year and it wouldn't let me using my Aus credit card. So not sure how you are going to do this.
