Hi there,

I can't seem to make sense of the Singapore airline website regarding Krisflyer miles. I have 21,346 miles. I want to fly from Sydney to Christchurch this October. I have been told this requires 25,000 miles and I can purchase additional miles at $40 per 1,000. Though on the web site it says booking online gives you a 15% discount so I am very close. The only problem is that I can't see where I would book a flight from Sydney to Christchurch on their redeemable website booking form.

Any one have any clues.

A definite Krisflyer newbie.

Cheers

Andrew

I am not an expert but a friend booked a SYD-CHC//AKL-SYD flying with Air NZ using Kris Flyer miles and had to do this over the phone.

As far as I understand you can only book SQ flights online. Any flights requiring partner airlines can only be booked over the phone and therefore no discount.

Yes, the 15% discount only applies to SQ flights online.

Note that you can travel a lot further than SYD-CHC return using 25000 points. You may want to travel to Fiji/Tahiti/Cook Islands/Samoa/etc with FREE STOP OVER at AKL (and maybe CHC?!), and it still only costs you 25000 points.

If you have any hotel points such as Starwood or PriorityClub you can transfer them into your Krisflyer account as well, saving you paying money to top up.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the information. How do you find out exactly where you can fly on your miles.

I will be flying into Australia with Singapore Airlines and wanted to travel to New Zealand on my 21,000 miles from a previous trip, then fly out of Auckland. So although flying further afield is tempting I will need to fly out of there back to the UK.

Excellent the fog is starting to disappear. So 25,000 miles will get me a RETURN from Australia to South West Pacific 2 region?

Yes that is correct. If you are lucky you may even get a free stopover along the way if you ask for it, eg SYD-AKL-CHC-SYD.

From memory the taxes and surcharges for my friends trip was <$100.
