Hi All,

I have been OneWorld platinum for almost a decade but in September 2021 I joined KrisFlyer due to anticipated travel in Asia.

After around 6 months I reached Gold and then requalified for Gold before September 2022 meaning my gold status now expires in September 2023.

In 2023 I began to travel less in Asia and flew less with Star Alliance in general. Currently I have 33200 out of 50000 elite miles which puts me 16800 miles short for requalification.

Upcoming travel before end of September should net me 6000 - 8000 elite miles, but also anticipated travel for October will easily make up the remaining shortfall. If SG extends my status by 1 month I am certain to requalify for KF Gold. I will have no difficulty retaining gold going forward.

I spoke to the SQ chat within the app and was told any extension is not possible.

From your experience if I call or email them to explain my situation, will an exception be made for a 1 month extension?

My experience (limited) is that SQ is totally unwilling to bend rules.

This seems to be the impression I get from the limited interaction via. web chat.

What would be the best way to contact them via. email or call the Singapore office?

Ultimately if they aren't interested I will need to look elsewhere for my upcoming travel.

I could either try another Star Alliance program (Air NZ, United) or try for status with Skyteam (KLM / AF).

I cannot advise on how to contact them- I have only ever dealt with the call centre but I think you'll get the same answer however you contact them. I don't remember hearing of any airline extending status by one month to credit future flights - occasionally an airline (not SQ) might renew status if you just miss out and you have a long record of flying with them - but it sounds like you will be well short.

I am not sure why you would need to look elsewhere for your upcoming travel. You are unlikely to get a status match based on an SQ status that is expiring in a week and for which you have not re-qualified, so you would be starting from the bottom whichever airline you pick. If SQ was the best programme for you when you signed up in 2021 then has something changed to make it no longer the best programme for you in 2023? Especially if you are confident you will be able to retain gold each year moving forward.
