The interiors are simply Air Asia X so any upgrade is certainly welcome.

Korea is very strong at the moment. Last minute fares are sky high, Jetstar is sold out most days well prior to departure.

Melbourne to Korea is definitely a missing link at the moment.
 
I guess when government is backing you, you can go crazy for a while.

Edit: oh seems the article doesn't really touch on it. But as I understand, with the KE and OZ merger pretty much going ahead, the Korean government felt it wasn't good to just have one major Int'l longhaul airline, so it is helping T'Way. As for why T'way... Who knows.
 
A couple of years ago +1 and her girlfriends flew T'way from Syd to Icn as the fares were very cheap. IIRC, about $300 oneway....wouldn't find me on it ;)

Well QF bailed out in favour of JQ so one might infer it’s a value market….
