Kerbside Uber pickup Sydney T3 from 21/12

Sounds awesome- I was hoping for some improvements here once all the building work is finished so this really great news.

Uber only though as it sounds- no Didi or others?

But... did I read somewhere else that they will not be using the MEL PIN style system?

Catching an uber at the main Melbourne (T2) pick up is so easy (I discount anything done at the T5 car park as being useful or efficient, yes T5, that car park is certainly not conveniently located anywhere near T4, haha)...

So at MEL (T2) you just go to a numbered kerbside car parking bay right outside the terminal exit (just like catching a taxi) get in, and instead of telling a taxi driver where you want to go, you give the uber driver a pin code, which the driver inputs into the system, matches you with that driver, and tells the driver where to go... IMO so much easier than trying to juggle which uber is yours, by finding the correct rego plates, in a messy pick up area.

@dk4 The same for us with Uber in Lisbon, Porto and Hong Kong with PIN, very easy.

Yes, as it stands legalities in NSW prevent that from happening.
Uber is trying to get that changed.

Used the kerbside pickup from T3 the other day and it was a real pain in the cough as the drivers have no idea where to go and it took ages to get picked up as they were ending up on the departures level etc. There are Uber staff on site and they said they were having lots of issues with this at the moment so will probably take a while for all drivers to become familiarised and it seems like directional signage is lacking. It’s Uber only, other apps you’ll need to go to priority pickup and as mentioned above not using the MEL style PIN system which would probably fix the issue with drivers not knowing where to pick you up from. T2 arrivals still need to use the priority pickup area as well.
