Yes, back again with another post about car hire. This one is a little more specific.

Car hire, 5 days, mid may, pick up from Karratha, return to Karratha. Have ~1100km to do.

Does anyone have any codes/suggestions on who to book and how to book that will give me more than the 100km per day.

Britz and qantas.com both come up empty handed. My travel agent can hook me up, but they slug a $50 service fee per booking.

Thanks

Sometimes the fee for the TA is worth it. In my experience up there I've always used Hertz, and get 200km/day.

It appears my next to useless travel agent has suddenly realised that there aren't any deals for unlimited or 200km per day and they can't book me any vehicles with out a very large fee.

Can some one please help me out with 200km allowance per day so I don't have to pay $150-$200 in excess charges?

Thanks

My company hires cars in the Pilbara all the time and never get the 'unlimited' option. Rio Tinto and BHPB do but they spend at a different magnitude to us. They know you're virtually captive as demand is so high so good luck with the search but I don't hold much hope.

Might as well sites such as driveaway or globalcars(both.com.au).Wont get more than the 100km a day I am sure but might get a lower rate. However there and NT you are a captive market.

All the online booking sites seem to have the 100km per day...

There are two "local" rental companies that come up in searches that require a "booking request" type submission... might (might!) be worth giving them a call????

Try the Europcar options that come up on the Flight Centre website - they seem to have unlimited kms.

Maybe try a booking with the DJ website, there is no clear indication of a charge for excess KM, which means you cannot charge for extras made at the time of booking as Avis found out last year!

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I've decided to just bite the bullet and let Europcar enjoy their additional profit.

If you only want a car, thrifty have unlimited km. Mainstream at KTA is Avis, thrifty, hertz and europecar pick you up. If you want a 4x4, you have buckleys of unlimited km, also, be very careful checking the vehicle and the windscreen for chips, we have spent over 8k in windscreen replacements in 12 months at KTA

Good luck

Mr!
