Just qualified for gold status. I checked my summary page online and it has changed from Qantas Club Silver, into just GOLD. Love it... Can't stop looking at it! hehe..

Does anyone know how long it takes for the GOLD cards to be posted out?

*sigh* still need another 620 SC by 30 sep to get platinum.. must get it!!!..

Congratulations on your achievement. When I first graduated to gold, the card was less then two weeks getting to me. Not sure what the general experience is though

Congrats Chucksta, your card, baggage tags etc should be in your wallet within a couple of weeks.

Congratulations Chucksta. It usually takes about 2 weeks to receive such material from QF. Quite efficient really. But maybe they should hold off and just send you the Platinum kit when you knock off those last few SCs ;).

They used to give a free FF cabin bag when you made GOLD. But I don't think they do that anymore.

Do you get anything fancy when you get to Platinum?

Must have been before my time. I certainly didn't get anything special for either the gold or platinum levels (well aside from the card)

I got the bag when I became Silver back when they started the tier structure. And another one a little while later but can't remember just when or why. I just arrived in the post with a note thanking me for my loyalty.

I also received a leather document wallet a few years later. Not sure if they still give them out. The bags can only be purchased now.

What happens to my QC membership now that I have a GOLD card?

My QC expires end of July. I remember someone said that it gets frozen until you are no longer a gold card holder??

Can anyone please verify that in the terms and conditions? I can't seem to find anything on it.

thanks

Your paid Qantas Club membership is put on hold and will be re-activated if you ever drop back below Gold status. So it sounds like you have a month of membership now in the bank.

Yeah, you get a "Platinum Membership Kit." The letter which you recieve states this.
Your Platinum membership kit

You kit includes your new Platinum membership card and a brochure which explains your new Platinum privileges - a generous 100% status points bonus, priority check-in at First class counters and much more. Your Platinum status equates to oneworld Emerald status which offers recognition and privileges with our oneworld alliance partners: Aer Lingus, American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia and LAN*. We've also enclosed two luggage tags and a list of useful telephone and fax numbers.

*Qantas Frequent Flyer points and Status credits can not be earned on LAN flights operated by LAN Ecuador. LAN affiliate LAN Ecuador is not a member of oneworld.

So what it says you really get which isn't included in the other packs is that mighty fine list of useful telephone and fax numbers.

Congratulations on making gold Chuksta. My kit arrived about a week after I qualified.

The kit contains 1 gold card, 2 gold luggage tags, mini booklet with phone numbers, bigger booklet that extolls the virtues of gold benefits  one form letter and that is all.

To add to NM's response, QF will send you a letter confirming this. From memory, it will arrive a week or two after you get your new Gold card.

I didn't receive a letter :(. I have 18 months of a 2-year membership on hold. So I wonder if I can seek a refund since I now have Lifetime Gold :?:.

Then I had better write into my will that my corpse should only travel on international flights or domestic flights after 1pm when the bar opens. Don't want to miss out on the booze.

Thats only if Mrs NM actually lets QF know he has moved onto that great big QP in the sky. I have a mate whose mum hasn't let QF know that her hubby has moved on and is continuing to use the points, she has actually credited more to the account via a hotel stay to keep the points active for another 3 years.

I wonder if they would catch on if the Mini-NMs kept using my points and lifetime status well after my lifetime had expired . They can each do a points transfer each year into my account and use the status to get into the upgrade waitlist with some advantage? Could go on for generations .... so long as the QF FF program life continues .

One on the mini's will just change their name to Nelly and seamlessly take over your account :)
