Jump queue at X-ray? [others not ready, you are]

Had a couple in their 70’s dithering around unpacking and sorting at the start of the bench in Cairns last weekend. Daughter and I were organised (naturally), waited for a bit, then decided to move past them. The woman snapped “We were here first”! There was room for 4-5 people in front of them and they were holding up at least 10 people behind them. Give me strength! Where is the common sense, people?

I reckon we were settled in the lounge with our G & Ts before they got through Security. Didn’t see any sign of the old couple in the Lounge.

We will have security rage next.

Almost in a similar vein at the self serve at Coles on Sat arvo. An entrance for both credit and cash checkouts creates a block as there are fewer cash terminals. An older couple were waiting for a cash one and the queue for credit card payers was getting longer. The older couple were not the issue as they were asking people to go past them. The blockage was caused by a younger girl directly behind them and whom I described as a Princess who would not go past them yapping ‘I was taught not to push past people’. The credit card tills were all vacant by now, all of them, but no cash ones. People then started pushing into me. I suggested I wasn’t the issue but Princess. Finally the person in charge came over and told people to move in past them. Princess was miffed. Stupid.

Im not going to push people aside to move in but really, if youre standing there waiting (for what, I dont know), Im going to move ahead.

Happened in Melb, going through the twisty line seatbelt snake and the 3 people in front of us just stood there, wondering which security bay to join (there was 3 or 4) and I just walked past them and went to the one on the far left. I know they looked at each other as I walked past them but why were they just standing there? Waiting to be called?

This is why I like Sydney's curbside lounge access. Check in as per normal, walk outside to the left/to the lounge and through security quickly, grab you plastic box, move out of the way and regroup.

why were they just standing there?
Probably doing what I often do, ascertaining which of the mini end queue to its facility would get me through quickest.

Of course if there already is an empty mini end queue to a facility; I'll be heading there. If there isn't then if I stop for a few seconds while reviewing options it makes no difference.

I’m sure no one here would queue jump if there was not a good space in which to land. And I’m thinking a couple of metres. Maybe a bit less if there’s a whole lot of pfaff still happening.

I do that, but I've made my decision before I get to where it splits

Subject to last second variations, so have I. Also, if there's a "tie" I will delay my decision a few seconds to see if anything changes.

You do have to keep an eye on it. I'll make judgement calls based on where certain people go.

Cove- Ipads don't need to come out for AU/PER security! Save your time :)
