Hi there

Sorry for asking this question.
Just wondering - I have tickets booked Perth to London direct for May 2018 and we return in July 2018 also on a Qantas ticket but currently showing as an Emirates plane London to Dubai and then Dubai to Perth.

I have been getting news items (google alerts not direct from Qantas) that Qantas are dropping Dubai from March 2018 and will be using Singapore instead Australian travels to Europe. Does anyone know is this only for the Eastern States or will it also be Perth? Is there a likelihood that our return plane may change from Dubai to Singapore?

And if this does happen, would it still be a Emirates plane we would be on, or would it be another partner plane with Qantas? The Emirates plane business class looks pretty swish inside, so it will be a bummer to miss out on that experience, but then we would actually prefer via Singapore, as we would extend, if possible, our layover to be a few days instead of the couple of hours we currently have in Dubai. Never been to Singapore and it is on our list of places to visit, so a few days stop over there would be a nice break.

And if the plane is changed, do you think it possible for us to change the return flight date into Perth, still leaving the UK on the same day as originally planned of course? at a cost of course - which we would be willing to pay.

Thank you in advance.

It won't impact you, QF codeshares will still be running on EK. You won't notice any difference.

Your flights wont be affected.

You could ask QF to pay to change to the direct flight LHR-PER (but you'll pay fare difference and any associated fees).

Unless Emirates has a complete meltdown, expect to travel as booked (unless you initiate and pay for change).

Agree with the other posts. Any changes you make right now will be your choice and thus you will pay any fare difference.

From late March, QF will be having a 787 on MEL-PER-LHR (QF9/10), a A380 on SYD-SIN-LHR (QF1/2), replacing a current A330 MEL-SIN flight with an A380 to connect to/from QF1/2 and the codeshares through DXB on EK.

QF won't be flying its own planes through DXB, but will still be codesharing with EK to Europe.

Thanks everyone.
I guess if we had booked London to Perth and they had specified it was on a Qantas plane, then there would have been change to our stop, but as it is already booked on Qantas but on a Emirates plane, that will not be changed to go via Singapore. I may check with travel agent to see what the $'s would be to change, but otherwise happy to keep as is. Happy flying everyone. Dawn.
