JQ removes Jon Stevens off plane for seat change

When I first read the thread I think I reacted like most here. However I do wonder if there is another side to this. If he was flying to a flood relief concert it is possible the flight was provided as a donation. Even if his normal rider required J travel that may have been waived in this case. Also it is not entirely unknown for FAs to go completely off, including convincing the captain the passenger is a risk - try googling "orange juice flight attendant".

On the other hand it's still more than likely Stevens was being a total Wally.

I hear what you're saying, but if I had an offer to do charity work and they said they'd fly me over on a LCC, I'd say "No, you keep the money, I'll get myself there. I insist".

It's possible that the FA had Schutzstaffel insignia on their uniform - there are lots of that breed about. A customer-service professional could perhaps have been able to turn on the charm and cajole Mr Stevens into complying - "If you could just stay in your allocated seat until we're airborne and the seatbelt sign has been turned off, Sir, then I'll be happy to ensure that you have those three empty seats to yourself". (Always remember the flight-attendant's creed - "Smile sweetly, and say 'f*ck you' with the eyes).

Then again, it's possible that Stevens was being a total wally.

Agreed, quote from Shrek " WTF is he and if he's important why is he flying JQ?"

I thought those two things too initially + the intoxication issue, but hey don't want to insult or insinuate anything/anyone. The PR releases will always cover their own hides. It really just sounds like a poor attitude to somebody who really is in authority even if you think little of the relative 'kid' FA. A non-event really, something we will all forget soon.

However if you were seated near an anybody who acted that way, change seats, talk back to the crew like they're back at school aiming for detention, you wouldn't feel overtly comfortable with their presence there and it may possibly make you feel better having them removed. I can't see how this can be slightly compared to the OJ incident - although it's always sadly funny to bring it up.

Crew and the airlines have to be very very careful in their choice of words when describing passengers that in any other situation you would call drunk.

The only person that is allowed to call a passenger drunk is a medical practitioner.

If crew call passengers drunk or intoxicated the airline can be held legally responsible for false accusations.

I believe this is because passengers with medical conditions can display symptoms that are typical of someone who is drunk.

It can be a very difficult situation onboard especially mid-flight, having to stop service of alcohol, and using the right words so that you don't get in trouble!

Interesting read indeed.. That sounds very much like what would have happened if the captain decided to offload him.

Certainly shoots down in flames the comments about him being too cheap to select a seat, it looks like it was more a case of needing room to sleep, and I still have not seen any mention of alcohol, at 2AM east coast time maybe it was just jetlag/fatigue with a healthy does of DYKWIA thrown in for good measure.

If it was 1A, then doesn't the emergency slide impede on leg room? The embarrassed one would be the colleague/manager/chaperone ;)

With 1B empty I dont think that was the issue regardless.

Aaaah, don't you love it when the truth comes out?
Stevens' holier than thou attitude unfortunately is a growing problem in society, not just so-called 'celebrities'.
