BAD behaviour on a cut-price airline flight has cost a Jetstar passenger a $700 fine.

Grant Elton King was busted using his Samsung Galaxy 4 to text and make calls during a Sydney to Gold Coast flight last year.

King ignored repeated safety warnings during take off and descent and when a flight *attendant confronted him, he admitted he hadn't worn a seatbelt for the entire trip.

I assume the hefty fine was for more than use of a phone as seatbelt was also an issue

$500 for the phone and $200 for the seat belt, or was that vice versa (read the article yesterday and can't remember). It also said max fine was $1700 for phone and something like $5700 for seatbelt.

Interesting ... what would you call it? a necklace? he's wearing ... wearing that into the court sends an interesting message.

I don't believe the fine was hefty considering what the maximum fine is for each offense. He merely got a slap on the wrist.

Hefty enough compared to the likely airfare.

At least he selected the correct airline to travel with

I know I risk sounding like a Today Tonight viewer, but that guy represents so much that is wrong with Australia. I note the comment
Outside court, King said he would "try to remember" to switch off his phone on the flight home to Sydney
is the sort of smart aleck thing I'd expect a twelve year old to retort with after being told off by a teacher. Despite being on a suspended sentence the guy has zero respect for the Law.

I am going to keep comments about the passenger in question to myself.

But, this is why we need Tiger and Jetstar!

Oh please. It's not as if you never see these smug selfish #%#£>'s on supposed better airlines, such as QF. In fact there's probably more. The difference is they're probably wearing a suit.
