Funny, I thought JQ followed the Low Cost Carrier model which is point to point fares, and they add on extra fares if a through connection is needed from another point (for JQ international). But they're not, they have specific fares reserved for specific city pairs like any other carrier.

Point in case - only available fare MEL-BKK was JetFlex, with one way fare $698.34 including taxes. Exact same flight on same day with a QF connection thrown in from SYD (ie fare for travelling SYD-MEL-BKK) was $578.34 on a JetSaver fare. Indeed if one flew AVV-SYD-MEL-BKK it would cost $662, some $36 less than just MEL-BKK!! Would it be that JQ are actually competing with QF, BA, EK & TG in the SYD-BKK market, but only competing with TG in the MEL-BKK market?
