I am booked on JQ28 next week SYD-MEL and was wondering whether I can skip the riff-raff and check in at the QF F desk? I know that usually you can check-in for JQ in the lounge, which makes me think that QF have access to the JQ systems... Is this still the case at the international terminal?

No, you will need to check-in at the JQ desks. You cannot use the QF F desk.

Potentially you can use the domestic desks and get a "D Sticker" at a domestic lounge, but if that doesn't work the best bet is to wait in line as early as possible and expect the staff to arrive late and be tardy setting up.
