I have a few questions (I have emboldened them so that you can pick them out amongst the rest of the post).

Just thought I'd see if i could book my seat allocation for my June Japan adventure (not really adventuring - spending quality time with the FMWIH) and found out that I have been changed from JQ11 OOL-NRT to a JQ23 & JQ25 combo via Cairns.

Not sure why that happened but now JQ11 is no longer offered.

Anyways, seat 1A, 1A, & 1A for my three flights. Wooo!

Now a question - will I need to uncheck and recheck my luggage at Cairns, and does anyone know if I will get a chance to visit the Cairns QP? Supposedly arrive Cairns at 1100ish and depart at 1300ish.

AND unless I'm reading this correctly off the status credits part of the QFF website

JQ23 in *class = 922 miles = 60sc
JQ25 in *class = 3650 miles = 120sc

So OOL-NRT-CNS = 180sc

Which means with my NRT-OOL direct return at 4500 miles & 120sc , will I be 300sc better off?

Which is awesome because I am 245sc from silver atm...

You read that right, yes :)

All sounds right (cant help about the QP), however one point needs clarification:

What is the acronym FMWIH ??

Sorry just double checked the jetstar website it says lounge access is only available in SYD and MEL. Qanats says no QP at the CNS international terminal.

I'm doing cns-nrt-cns on 21 and 28 May and looks like I'm not using the lounge. OOL-NRT was about $400 more when I booked, figured I could get myself to cns for less than that.

You are on an International transit, so there should be no need to collect bags and no club access as there is no club available in the international terminal. Take a good book!

Or buy some duty free in OOL and get stuck into that...

I would buy it in CNS, any hand carry duty free purchased in OOL will get confiscated under LAGs I suspect.

Is the no lounge a recent thing? I've been planning my trip for 12 months and I had the impression that there was a lounge from my early research. Or am i just confused.

There used to be a joint Qantas/Cathay lounge in Cairns Intl, but it was closed and is now a Cathay only lounge.

There was a QP at the CNS int terminal. Unfortunately it was closed some time ago. (6-9 months?) :(

Booo... :(

Well, I guess I'll have to start with the early morning drinks to make up for the lack of complementary bevvies in CNS - I'm soooo looking forward to this trip. It comes the day after I finish my first teaching practicum, so I need the rest. And the drinks I can't afford the time (or the money) for really at the moment.

You may have time to wander across to the CNS Domestic QP if you can get yourself a D sticker at OOL. (It's a 5 minute walk each way)

I'm not so sure about getting access in any case but StarClass might do the trick. Maybe hardly worth it as the CNS QL bar opens Noon and by that time I'd be thinking of heading back.

CNS is not listed; however it may not hurt to try and it can be a nice walk ...
