So last night when checking In for my flight on JQ (MEL > BNE) I was offered an Emergency Exit Row at the checkin counter , which of course I gladly excepted.
Little did I know that aircraft was a A321 & not the smaller A320 that JQ normally flies on this route.

I was in for a surprise as to the amount of leg room in row 25!

I must have had at least 2 meters of space in front of me to reach over to the In-flight magazine & safety card behind row 24 that was in front of me.

Apparently, accordingly to the FA, so much space is required due to the life rafts overhead that are required to be carried on this type of aircraft as the aircraft has considerably more passengers than the A320 .

So I thought I would just share with the AFF community a few photos of the extra leg room I experienced last night & would highly recommend row 25 on JQ's A321 should you be able to snare a seat here .ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1413695991.350705.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1413696016.621031.jpg

Is this potentially a contender for the best leg room on a Australian registered aircraft?

Certainly looks like very nice leg room :)

Only one crew seat at this location?

Yes, only 1 FA seated here for take off & landing, although another FA seated at row 11 the second emergency exit row & of course a FA seated at row 1 as well as the back of the bus.

The FA joking called row 25 on the A321, Jetstar's domestic business class

Correct only one crew seat at this location from what I remember, from what I also remember of row 25 and indeed row 11 as well is its a fairly cold draughty area to sit in for some reason, slightly narrower seat (not a problem for me) due to tray tables in the armrest, a tendency for people to hang around and start to socialize/chat/do stretching exercises  in your space, with along with several other disadvantages of just being a Jetstar plane. I would also imagine a substitution from A321 to an A320 after booking also makes for sad times if you had counted on and selected an exit row on a A321. But if you had to fly JQ then there are many many worse places to be than Row 25 on an A321.

I could look, but how many more rows are there beyond row 25? Could be a good spot for rear boarding?

37 rows on a JQ a321.

so that makes 12 rows behind row 25

rear boarding where offered is ideal when seated in row 25.

It's the same for Row 11 on the A321, I flew it on Friday night MEL>ADL (late aircraft change) . Seats 12A and 12F also offer a large amount of leg room (as there's no 11A and 11F) usually at no extra cost
