JQ 18 MEL-SYD

Hello All.

I am looking for something fun to do with GF one weekend.

I need to be in Melbourne on the 22nd and I note that JQ 18 is scheduled MEL SYD each Saturday in Aug. I can book a reward seat at this stage so we could enjoy breakfast in the F lounge and then a night in SYD returning on Sunday.

Trying to use up a few points as well prior to TUE.

Does anyone have any recent experience on the likelihood of this being cancelled and then we end up on a standard JQ which would not really achieve much as we may as well just stay in Mel for another night. and spend the cash on a night out.

Hard to say as they haven't run for a while.

In past experience the 787 tag flights are fairly reliable, but first to be cancelled if there are any issues with the 787 fleet.

Last Tuesday I booked JQ 62 SYD-MEL for Friday last week. On Thursday morning it was cancelled.

I have been booked since May on JQ27 MEL-SYD in late November. Well see what happens.

Business award, booked via QBR ... I was able to use the Qantas app to rebook domestic QF business. Of course I lost out on accessing the international lounge.

Be careful, they are down one 787 at the moment and it might be for a little while if it’s going to HKG for what appears unscheduled engineering.

Any tag flight, SIN and HNL 787 flights appear to be targeted when they are short an aircraft.

Probably easier to move people from HNL onto QF or via LAX and the same with SIN. The rest of the network is a bit more challenging when trying to get people to the destination, especially many now without a 3K connection.

I guess they can now push people to HKT/BKK via Perth which would be an unpleasant experience but.
