I'd go for something new, JL looks like soft product and service would be superior to QF so if you can get the new sky suite give it a whirl

I've booked 2x award tickets SYD-NRT-SYD on the JL 777 service in March. Very excited to try their F product and interestingly on the flight back the cabin is already half full.

I believe the plan is to put the 787 on the route after the end of March once one is available (without F obviously).

They still seem to have up to 3-4 award seats on most days they're operating the aircraft on the SYD route in 2015.

Interestingly, I used CX AsiaMiles to book. 120,000pp return. For the exact same seats, QF was charging 228,000pp return. Unbelievable, that's basically double!

Where did you hear that? They had planned to put 787s on the SYD route early this year. They didn't because of a software issue with the engines casing problems when near thunderstorms. They pulled the 787s from SIN for the same reason. The software issue should have been fixed by now, but the 787s aren't back on TYO-SIN.

JAL likely won't confirm what aircraft is operating NRT-SYD after March until mid-late Jan. There is also a rumor that they'll move the SYD flight to HND.

HND would be fantastic! (Although getting to/from HND is not without its own problems).

I too think JL will want to assess the success of its 77W before committing.

Sorry I was just assuming they'd put the 787 on the route if the software issue was fixed. Not confirmed by any means.

On the other note, I'd also love if the JL flight went SYD-HND instead of NRT. Would definitely give a competitive advantage over QF on the route with better connections and easier to get to the city.

I have only been short-haul JL J, but have found the food to be pretty tasty! In fact the tastiest steak dish (as a whole) I have ever had on a plane was ex NRT for China.

Whenever I am trying to find a flight to Europe it seems to be going from HND. That said, I'm usually not looking for a JL flight and I'm a sample size of 1

HND (international terminal) has been slowly growing and has a lot of connections to Europe and the USA, as well as the rest of Asia. And a nice new terminal for those connections.

It's not simply domestic anymore.

There are currently flights from HND to KUL, YYZ, CDG, BKK, FRA, HKG, LHR, LAX, SIN, YVR, HNL, DXB, SEA, SFO, DOH, among others.

that's where the airline times its connections. I agree it would be rather useless if all the flights arrived at 0600 and didn't depart until 2300. But that's the same as any airport. If you're connecting through HND you only need one flight in and one flight out that's perfectly timed
